Nintendo have revealed that an astonishing one in five Japanese consumers owns a Nintendo DS.

A new report unveiled today by Nintendo shows that over 20% of the Japanese population owns their own Nintendo DS, this figure roughly equates to one in five owning the portable hand-held gaming device, an astonishing achievement.

Consumers rate Nintendo as one of the worlds most reputable company’s according to the Global Reputation Pulse 2009 survey.

Nintendo has been awarded sixth place in the Global Reputation Pulse 2009 survey which was conducted throughout January and February 2009. The survey which was conducted by consumers saw Nintendo pole vault above esteemed tour de forces such as Sony, Microsoft, and even Walt Disney.

Nintendo: Nintendo’s E3 Press Conference Date And Time Announced

Nintendo’s eagerly anticipated E3 press conference date and time has been announced with plenty of surprises in store.

The company’s conference is set to take place on June 2nd, a day after the actual trade show starts, and will take place at 9:00 AM PST. Satoru Iwata, Cammie Dunaway and Reggie Fils-Aime will all take centre stage to announce a plethora of exciting announcements.

Nintendo Wii: Nintendo Admits That Wii Sales Have Peaked To Quickly

Nintendo could be set to disclose information on the Wii’s successor after admitting the console has reached its ‘ultimate level’.

Nintendo have reported that its profits for 2008 exceeded its expectations causing the company to ponder whether they’ll achieve the same level of success during 2009. Whilst company stocks have ‘crumbled’ in recent months, pressure seems to be mounting for the company to show off the Wii’s inevitable successor.

The next Zelda title for the Nintendo DS is set to appeal to a wider age group than the series has previously appealed to.

Nintendo are all about reaching as wide a demographic as humanly possible with their forthcoming key franchises, therefore it comes as no surprise to learn that the Zelda: Spirit Tracks will appeal to a wider age group of people then previous iterations of the franchise according to a recently released report aimed towards company investors.

Nintendo Wii: Super Mario Kart Finally Coming To Wii Virtual Console

Whilst fans have suffered an antagonising wait, it appears as though Super Mario Kart for the Super Nintendo is finally coming to the Wii Virtual Console.

According the OFLC website it appears as though Super Mario Kart is scheduled to hit the Wii Virtual Console, with listings appearing for the enamoured title alongside a listing for the original Pilotwings, also for the Super Nintendo.

Nintendo Wii: Toys R Us Begin Selling Nintendo Wii Demo’s

American chain store, Toys R Us, have begun marketing and selling a Nintendo Wii game demo.

The game demo, titled ‘The Activision Demo Action Pack‘,  comprises of five Wii titles including; Big League Sports, Dancing With the Stars: We Dance!, Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa, Monkey Mischief! Party Time, and Shrek’s Carnival Craze, and is set to retail for a reasonably pricey, $7.99.

Nintendo: New Pokemon Title To Be Unveiled May 10th

Pokemon Sunday, a Japanese variety show, is set to reveal a brand new Pokemon title on the 10th May.

Pokemon Sunday’s official website states that the show is due to unveil “a worldwide first announcement and a worldwide first big scoop” relating to a future iteration, or alternatively a remake, of the hugely popular Pokemon franchise.

Nintendo Wii: Pikmin 3 Being Revealed In Next Months Edge?

Speculation is mounting that the next iteration of the Pikmin franchise will make an appearance in the forthcoming issue of Edge magazine.

Edge magazine readers are purporting that the latest edition of the revered publication sports what appears to be a tantalizing glimpse of a small purple blob that looks remarkably like a Pikmin in its next issue segment. Whilst this doesn’t necessarily confirm the existence of the next iteration of Pikmin, it does go some way to fuel growing speculation.
