President and Chief Operating Officer of Nintendo of America, Reggie Fils-Aime, has openly stated that he’s completely un-fazed about rival motion control solutions from both Microsoft and Sony.
“We applaud anything that will further expand the market of game players; it’s in everyone’s best interest. But all of this talk around new motion controllers does make me think about the people who initially said that the Wii Remote was just a fad. I wonder what happened to those people? For some reason, no one’s invited me to a first-hand demo of either of the other motion controllers reportedly in development. I don’t know what they’ll cost, and I don’t know what software they’ll operate. It could be that our current 100 percent marketshare in motion control could lose a couple of points, but… with a head-start of over 51 million controllers, I still like our chances.

I’ve probably spent 4 times as much $$ on controllers and add-ons then I spent on the Wii iteslf. Honestly, I think this is where they’ve made most of thier profits.

Natal is much more than just a “camera game”. It’s a whole new way to play where you are the controller….
Yeah like the Wii was back in the day, it will revolutionize the gaming industry they said, and now? All I see is waggle waggle and “my petz” games. Natal will fail. It will be a nice gimmick at the start though, just like the Wii was.

I agree with Reggie, whatever Microsoft and Sony have made will not be able to touch the Wii sales. Plus it’s hilarious how the same people the bashed the Wii are now copying it.
Changing the control scheme mid console just seems desperate like they are trying to do everything but i really do not like camera games either.
Wii works because its IR and Bluetooth two very tried and tested technologies. ive yet to use motion plus but the Wii is just fun and that is why i always choose Nintendo. Sony and Microsoft exclusives are usually too serious and realistic to be fun and can usually be frustration when the attempts a realism arent complete.
That said a lot of 3rd party Wii developers are lazy and use waggle instead of innovative controls or cheap partially completed games i wouldnt have bought 10 years ago. Companies need to know you have to put a lot in to get a lot out and customers need to stop buying awful games or the formal will never happen.
I want a black Wii remote.

The fact that the Wii Remote is the console’s de-facto controller is the main thing that kept it from becoming a flash in the pan like other motion controllers before it.
The Eye Toy was a successful product in it’s own right for example, but I cant see these new motion systems on the PS3 and 360 becoming a standard accessory.
