At a recent Shareholder meeting, Shigeru Miyamoto told the audience that he believes it’s now time for a brand new Nintendo character.
“It’s about time for a new game character. Perhaps this can be delivered next year.”
Miyamoto also spoke briefly about the next instalment of the Pikmin franchise which is still under development at Nintendo.
“Amongst the present promises, I have to finish Pikmin quickly, so production is progressing extremely well”

@jam9035 When I read you comment, an idea randomly popped into my head. I wonder what would happen if Miyamoto created a female character? Off the top of my head, Samus is the only main character for Nintendo that is female. I just hope that said character would be as awesome as Samus, which would be pretty hard.

Howabout a new character in the Metroid universe. All his games would be tactical/stealth shooters.
I would love a new Metroid character! I mean look at smash bros brawl, both characters are the same person.
