Nintendo Wii: Nintendo Collaborated With THQ To Produce The uDraw Tablet

The super stylish and extremely innovative uDraw tablet was the result of an “incredible partnership” between THQ and the Japanese gaming giant, Nintendo.

“When we came to Nintendo in the beginning with the idea for uDraw, they said ‘that’s brilliant, let’s figure out how to do this. It’s been an incredible partnership. … I’ve been working in game development for 17-plus years and I can honestly say this is one of the smoothest collaborations with a first party I’ve ever had, just because everybody got it on day one.”

“The prototype was a like bunch of lasers and mirrors and loose parts, it was wood and it had brass on it,” he recalled. “I said, ‘There’s no way we can get this to something like this [the current hardware] without it costing a fortune.’ Nintendo said, ‘Don’t worry about it. You guys are software developers, we are the kings of hardware. We will figure this out.’ And they did, for one reason — the idea was solid. Everybody knew it was a good idea, so we figured out the rest.”

Nintendo 3DS: Street Fighter 3DS Will Be A “Perfect Port” From Consoles

Street Fighter producer Yoshinori Ono has told online gaming publication Kotaku that the forthcoming Super Street Fighter IV 3DS will be a “perfect port” of the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 versions.

“The gameplay we can port perfectly from the PS3 and Xbox 360 version and we’re not going to subtract anything out of that,” he said. “It is how we adjust the graphics that will help people remember what sort of game they used to play in the 90s.

“When you put the 3D slider on max the game will be between looking into the (game world) and the characters jumping out at you, so you can distinguish the background and characters very clearly.”

The games multiplayer experience was also shown off along with the special edition Golden Classic Controller Pro. The online aspect will allow eight players to slug it out in classic GoldenEye style but sadly won’t allow for voice chat.

Nintendo Wii: Metroid: Other M Is The “Perfect Metroid Experience”

The co-creator of the Metroid franchise, Yoshio Sakamoto, has told the Official Nintendo Magazine that the highly anticipated Metroid: Other M will provide fans with the ultimate Metroid experience.

When Sakamoto was asked to describe the perfect Metroid experience and this is what he had to say:

“It is to fully understand, feel empathy and fight together with Samus Aran. In other words, it is to play Metroid: Other M. I hope you will enjoy playing Metroid: Other M for a perfect Metroid experience.”

“What we asked Team Ninja to do was to properly understand Samus and Metroid and to fully utilise their experience in developing great games. The Prime series, which was developed by Retro Studios, is also a great series, but I was not involved there as the series was developed by other creators who have different perspectives.”

Nintendo Wii: Sega Says Sonic Colors Is Not For Hardcore Gamers

In a recent interview Sega’s Takashi Iizuka has stated that Sega’s promising Sonic Colors wasn’t created to appeal to hardcore gamers and is instead meant to appeal to children between the ages of six and twelve years old.

“We know there are sometimes opinions about control from core gamers, but we’re intending Sonic Colors to be played by children of probably between six and twelve years-old. So, with Sonic Colors we have aimed to make a game that everyone can control and have fun in.”

“So, it’s not really a game for the core gamers. If you take the rail grind, it’s something that’s fast, not difficult but is fun to do and looks great. It’s about making a game that’s right for the core audience of the game.”

Nintendo Wii: Zelda Producer Reveals New Zelda: Skyward Sword Details

Zelda series producer Eiji Aonuma recently had the chance to sit down with gaming publication Nintendo Power to discuss the eagerly anticipated Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword which is due for release in 2011.

    • the area from the E3 demo will be divided in the final game
    • bosses from the demo will not appear in their locations from the demo
    • the demo area was the realm below the clouds
    • the demo area was a field, not part of a dungeon
    • once again, field and dungeon layouts are being reworked
    • elements of dungeons and fields are being combined
    • some dungeons may feature areas where you have to run from enemies, or you don’t have a weapon
    • there may be more items than the 8 seen in at E3
    • Gorons and Zoras are mentioned in passing, but not confirmed for the game
    • MotionPlus may lead to new puzzle types
    • the sword has a treasure-seeking ability
    • no comments on Ganon appearing
    • no interest in having Link speak due to ruining the image of the character thus far
    • Link does have a method of travel between the two worlds, but that’s not being discusses yet

Since the game is partially set in the sky, any chance Epona is a Pegasus?

“I hadn’t thought of that! You surprised me with that one! Of course, you know, Link does have to travel between Skyloft and the land below, and back and forth, so he’s obviously going to have to do that via some sort of conveyance. That being said, I’d like to reveal that at a later time, so I don’t want to give away too much other than to say that he is going to be traveling between the two. However, I can guarentee he’s not going to be flying around like Pit from Kid Icarus!”
