Nintendo Wii: Wii Speak Peripheral Being Phased Out At Retail

Respected online gaming publication Gamesutra is reporting that Nintendo are gradually phasing out their Wii Speak peripheral.

The device which allows Wii owners to converse with each other online is now only available at “limited retail locations,” with further shipments made only “if consumer demand increases.”

  1. I’ve used it once on Monster Hunter Tri with some French bloke called Sebastien ;)

I kept saying Bonjour ‘coz that’s all I know :’)

  2. The problem with Wii Speak is that it’s too limited and it captures all the background noise. I’m glad I never bought it; I can imagine the feedback problems it would have.

At least a headset thing was recently released, I should look into that.

  4. Yeah well done Nintendo for really trying to keep up with online gaming. I’ve got one and never used it. Never found anyone on monster hunter with one and ya can’t use it on every game. Nintendo, online gaming in the 1990s!!!
