Amazon UK have announced that the Nintendo 3DS has become the most pre-ordered video games system in the company’s history.
According to the online retailer Nintendo 3DS pre-orders are 56 percent stronger than the Nintendo Wii, 20 percent stronger than the Playstation 3 and an incredible 255 percent stronger than they were for the Nintendo DSi.
“It’s unusual for a handheld console to attract this amount of excitement in the run up to launch.”
“Such high levels of interest are normally reserved for the play-at-home hardware like the ground-breaking Nintendo Wii and last year’s Microsoft Kinect.”

I can’t wait to hear everyone’s opinions once they actually have the console. The device is AMAZING! Word of mouth will really help the console sell, much like it did the Wii.

Had mine preordered for months on amazon (us) just hope they don’t screw something up and I have to wait forever for one! If not I should have it a few days after launch!!

I pre-ordered one the first day that we could preorder at gamestop. When nintendo first unveiled 3DS, I was super excited and now seeing sickr’s tweets about how amazing it is, I can hardly wait. I’m just a little dissapointed with the launch games, but I may get the ghost recon (I think its available for launch) and maybe steel diver (I saw an advertisement at gamestop and it actually look pretty cool)
Awesome, glad you’re enjoying the Tweets! It truly is a fantastic console. Judging from the launch games I would advise either Street Fighter IV 3D, Nintendogs or Pilotwings. Oh, and pick up a copy of Pokémon Black/White if you haven’t already done so.

I’m happy for Nintendo’s success. I did wonder if the 3D capability would really sell to the general public; I was concerned that people might be sick of DS’s by now considering how many redesigns there are.
I haven’t pre-ordered a 3DS and I won’t be getting one any time soon due to lack of funds, but I’ll definitely pick one up later on down the line. In fact me getting one’s a given, I’m more worried about which colour to pick once the time comes; blue or black? I prefer blue as a colour, but I find the black console slightly more appealing in terms of design.

Anther 3DS question. Does it link up to the DS? Say for example I have pokemon black in my 3DS could I battle someone who has a DS, or would I need to use my DS for that?
I haven’t tried it but I am sure you could do that. You can set the original DS WiFi options on the Nintendo 3DS as well as WiFi connections for Nintendo 3DS games. Hope that makes sense….
