Nintendo Wii 2: No Friend Codes For Nintendo Wii 2 (Project Cafe)

Sam Kennedy, director of the 1UP Network, has revealed that Nintendo won’t be using friend codes with the successor to the Nintendo Wii.

Speaking in a recent 1UP popcast Kennedy stated that ‘There will be no friend codes.’ When questioned if he was sure, he confidently replied with a simple ‘Yes’. More information regarding Nintendo’s next console will be be revealed at this years E3 event in June.

  1. Friend codes work on the 3ds, it’s just one code unlike the wii where each game also had it own friend code that was stupid

  2. I wonder how it will be replaced. One of my hopes is that they use a Mii system instead, where each Mii is linked to a profile (like Xbox’s avatars, right?). A lot of things would be better than a friend code. Even if they keep it, it should be like the 3DS, where there is a universal friend code.

    If there aren’t friend codes, I hope that can be retrofitted onto the 3DS, or perhaps its sequel.

  3. An account-system with up to 20 Miis each, and up to five accounts per console would be sweet. In that way all the family could have their own account and statistics.

    (20 Miis would be the maximum per account-TEAM but you could have limitless Miis on the system. So if you play a Sports game you would have a whole team of Miis you´ve selected against a team from someone else.)
