Nintendo 3DS: Capcom Blame Fans For Mega Man Legends 3 Cancellation

According of Capcom it was the fans that were ultimately responsible for the cancellation of the long-awaited Mega Man Legends 3 for the Nintendo 3DS. Capcom Europe took to Twitter to field questions about the cancellation of the title from disappointed Mega Man fans. The strange thing is that Capcom said they would never blame fans for the cancellation, but according to this Tweet it looks like they just did.

“it’s a shame the fans didn’t want to get more involved :-( if we saw there was an audience for MML3 people might change minds”

    1. maybe if it was being developed as a playstation game like it was originally it would have received more support. the ds sucks.

      1. Wait wait… I know it’s been over a year but FUCK YOU. Like it or not, the DS sold better than the competition for years. How come is it a fail?

  1. …Really? Capcom…you have disappointed me. I thought there might be some hope for you…but now I’m having second thoughts…

  2. Why are they blaming us for a game THEY’RE making?! They make the game, we buy the game, we enjoy the game, they enjoy the money we give them for the game. More involved? Are you freaking kidding me?! This is one of the main reasons I even bought a 3DS. Capcom you suck.

    1. Um, not quite. Fans were voting on what they wanted for the game on their website, so the community was supposed to be more involved. I’m not surprised they cancelled it due to lack of interest.

      1. Millions- no billions- no KAJILLIONS OFFF PEOPLE WANTED IT!!!!! Damn you CRAPCOM!!!! YOU SUCK !!!!!!!!!! I what going to creat a character for that game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FUCK YOU CRAPCOM!!!!!!!!!!! *sigh* Ok neon, calmdown. I’m just saying FUCK YOU CRAPCOM!!!

  3. So if they receive enough complaints about the game being canceled, they might think of returning to make it?

  4. Excuse me? The fans didn’t want to get more involved? Even though a good chunk of them bought a 3DS just to play this game? Someone needs to give you an ass beating.

  5. in what way they blamed the fans? Its just business, i mean…you wont make a game for a small number of costumers, or else they wont get any profit out of it…they said basicaly that they didnt see the market to make the game

    1. Dude have you seen all the rage that millions were send towards capcom? They basically said fans should have been more involved and said it was our fault we aren’t the ones making your damn games no wonder why everyone hates them selfish assholes

  6. Capcom ALWAYS blame the fans. They gave that excuse for Ace Attorney Investigations 2 not being translated. Probably why we haven’t had a New Breath of Fire in about 10 years too.

    1. We had one in the last 10 years. It wasn’t good and shouldn’t be counted, but we had one. I’d prefer an actual Breath of Fire and not Dragon Quarter. It’s like they just threw that one out there.

…so I guess all the fans should just make big lists of titles we want and flood Capcom with them or something? A Mega Man title is always a given, it shouldn’t require vocal fans or anything, just do it. I mean they put out the Capcom vs. whatever card games for handhelds and multiple versions of Street Fighter or another Resident Evil.

Fans have been wanting BoF and Mega Man for awhile, myself included…as well as BeatDown: Fists of Vengeance and a new Onimusha.

      1. You guys who want to flood letter should co-ordinate your efforts with the ones going on over at Operation Rainfall. They’re looking for additional games to add to their efforts.

      2. It’s not that Dragon quarter wasn’t good it just alienated the fans of the original’s choppy pace and convoluted plot. what comes from alienating old fans is gaining new fans. Sure Dragon Quarter wasn’t a true successor to the BoF series, it was a significantly offshot game one which should’ve been it’s own series.

  7. It’s not so much that they’re blaming the fans; they’re saying that because fan interest wasn’t high enough, the market was therefore not present for this game. Basically, they’re saying there wasn’t much demand to warrant its existence.

  8. HA

    HAHAHAHAHHAHAHA

Oh that’s a good one Capcom, I’m pretty fuckin’ sure there was A LOT of support from fans.

  9. haha, Capcom is funny indeed :D “if you people would buy it, we would make it, but if you won’t buy it, well, then we won’t make it” Capcom, take note: a game sell if: it’s fun; it’s great; it have a great hype. Clear? ok, so when a game of yours had any of that qualities recently? 2001 is gone, Capcom, it’s time to wake up

  10. WHAT THE F*CK?!? You are blaming US for the cancellation?!? YOU decided to cancel, YOU were making the game, and it was YOUR SITE with 202856 users!!!

STOP BLAMING US!!! CAPCOM, YOU ARE PATHETIC!!! UNLESS YOU REDEEM YOURSELF, I WILL NEVER BUY FROM YOU AGAIN.

Tomorrow, I’m marching to my local Game and trading in all of my Capcom games!!! I HAVE HAD IT WITH YOU!!!

  11. Just because not as many people have input on what they want to see in the game doesn’t mean they’re not interested in it. There are probably a lot of people who just enjoy looking at the development forums without actually posting on it, and probably just wanted to see what ends up in the game. Either way it’s not like fans were making all of the final design decisions anyways, it’s just helping out on the development of the game a bit.

  12. @James, That’s a logical point, however, no company openly states that because it damages their reputation and their relationship with customers. Just a poor way to deal with it.

  13. I understand what Capcom are saying, but something needs to be noted. Sure, they didn’t have the number of fans involved in the contribution online, as they needed, but the company just needed to have a lot more faith on the global markets that aren’t necessarily involved with the Dev Room. (And it’s a shame, because I actually wanted to contribute my ideas as well, in more technical ways than existing ones. I was issuing “yay”, “may” and “nay” to existing ideas at the time.)

If it’s due to lack of manpower, a wise thing to do is to ask fans for programming volunteers or something. Oh, well. What had happened had happened, I guess.

  14. that’s total bullcrap. I wanted this game, but I didn’t actually participate in their website or anything. Is that my fault, then? Let’s say Nintendo tells Zelda fans to go to a certain website to share ideas for the next Zelda. Some will participate, some will not. Ultimately, the ones making the game will be Nintendo, not the fans. If Capcom was hoping to reduce costs by having the fans make a game, then they’re nuts. They just went along with the project to look good just to slap fans in the face. Now we get the blame? The future doesn’t look bright for them.

  15. This is complete and utter BS. There were TONS of us involved with the Dev Room.

You want to know the REAL reason Capcom canceled Mega Man Legends 3? It’s all Capcom’s fault, as they “bit off more than they can chew.” It wasn’t that there weren’t enough fans involved; it was because there were TOO MANY fans involved. Capcom’s mouth was bigger than its stomach. They had too many ideas they were trying to implement, and ended up overloading themselves. Seriously, that’s exactly the reason. They created the Dev Room to get the fans involved, but they got more than they bargained for. They figured it’d be cheaper to cut their losses and cancel the whole shebang than to continue trying to keep up with demands from fans.

I know all of this because I personally heard it from a guy who works there. It’s so ridiculous, and I can’t believe Capcom are blaming the fans for this now! It’s their own damn fault! They didn’t have to go with EVERY idea posted, you know? They obviously had poor direction from the start if they couldn’t just cut a few of the ideas and go with what they had. I mean, fan input is great and all, but they didn’t need to base the ENTIRETY of the game on it.

I blame the directer for this. He obviously doesn’t know how to do his damn job. This is ridiculous…

  16. Haha, Capcom is sucking more everyday. This is a recipe for fail if they don’t get their act together, and if they think putting out so many unnecessary versions of SF4 and there other games is surely going to back fire on them.

    1. forgot to add in “if they think putting out so many unnecessary versions of SF4 and other games will keep them afloat then that is surely going to backfire on them.”

  17. Hey! why didn’t you Capcom guys told us about that before? I never knew there was a page reciving comments on what would we like to see on MML3!!!
    darn :S ….

  18. AT LEAST CAPCOMS GIVING US MVC3 ULTIMATE EDITION WITH PHOENIX WRIGHT HAHA TAKE THAT NINTENDO . 3RD PARTIES LIKE CAPCOM TREAT US XBOX AND SONY FANS WITH MORE RESPECT GIVING US THE GOODS. AM GLAD CAPCOM IS TURNING THEIR BACKS ON NINTENDO. AM ALSO GLAD OTHER GAMES ARE BEING CANCELLED FOR THAT 3DS GARBAGE. I LOVE HOW 3DS IS FAILING I HOPE IT MAKES YOU FANBOYS CRY LOUD. AS A CASHIER I MAKE MY BUSINESS TO BAD MOUTH THAT CRAP AND RECOMMEND CUSTOMERS TO A PSP INSTEAD. MY DREAM IS THAT GARBAGE COMPANIES LIKE NINTENDO GO OUT OF BUSINESS, SHIT PLAYING THE CATCH UP GAME WITH HD ONLY A MORON WOULD BUY LAST GEN CLONED AS NEW.

CAPCOM RELEASE MEGAMAN LEGEND FOR THE PSVITA, SONY FANS TREAT U BETTER WE’LL PAY FOR IT. FUCK 3DS ITS A UGLY PLASTIC DESIGN FAIL HEADACHE INDUCING TOY.

RELEASE MEGAMAN LEGEND 3 FOR PSVITA OUR PS3 GRAPHICS ,OLED 5 INCH SCREEN WITH ONLINE AND TRUE 3D HEADTRACKING IS A BETTER CHOICE CAPCOM.

    1. Fanboy much!!! A proper gamer (like me) has all current gen consoles, a highly powerfully gaming PC and all current gen handhelds. It dosen’t really matter what console I’m playing, the only thing that matters is if I’m having fun. By the way since you have such a limited mind set on consoles you will never be able to such brilliant games as, The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess, Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2, No More Heroes 2 Desperate Struggle and many more.

    2. Wow, You do realize that the 3DS is beating the PSP and PSVita. Stopping costumers from buying what they wanted and telling to buy a different product just because you don’t like what they want to buy? That’s illegal I’m sure. 3D is optional anyway and YOU alone aren’t going to bankrupt a company, and then you pull the graphics card into this and then I realize you are a troll, and I have full permission to badmouth you to prick, learn to spell asshole sucking twat!
