never tried 3d gaming with glasses, but it seems interesting. i would imagine 3d gaming for ps3 is better than 3ds, but i dont know how annoying 3d glasses really are. i find the 3d on the 3ds more irritating than 3d movies, and if the ps3 is anything like that i would imagine i play more 3d on the ps3 than my 3ds. the 3ds 3d isnt BAD, but it does effect some games in a bad way, and the whole cant move your head or game is annoying. i use 3d on my 3ds sometimes, but rarely always. i dont know who would buy a 3ds just for 3d, because its a brand new nintendo handheld, that should be a GREAT enough reason to own a 3ds

I think the 3DS 3D is a good step towards real non-gimmicky 3d, because, consider, all 3D movies have some effect scenes where stuff just shoots out at you and completely destroys the illusion of the movie.
The 3DS 3D doesn’t have gimmicky effect hashing, but it feels like a panoramic landscape opens up before you, like looking outside a window. While maybe that’s the reason some people are unimpressed, because the hollywood movies are more about effects than quality 3d, i’m pretty happy they didn’t choose that route and went with what we have now. Also, 3D doubles the pixel count, gives metallic shine effects and natural anti aliasing. The shit PC gamers keep bragging about on their system. Why the F are people underestimating it?

3D does not double pixel amount, It stays the same.
With 3D, it stays. in DOA it halfs the FPS.
3ds sweetspot can be more annoying to some people but thats the only diffrence. even then handheld gaming in general can be uncomfortable if you hold it in such a position so its not much of a problem anyways.
IMO, IMAX 3D > 3DS > Cinema 3D > PS3 3D (and really all active-glasses 3D). I don’t know about passive-glasses TV.
I don’t know why, but active-glasses 3D (battery powered glasses) is really dodgy. I’ve tried it on two TVs of different brands, and it kept getting out of sync, flickering and unfocussing… I’m pretty sure it wasn’t my eyes either because the rest of my family had the same problem.
The 3DS is great though. The 3D effect is amazing, it helps gameplay in most instances (Super Mario 3D Land demo is much easier in 3D, but still quite hard don’t worry it’s not too easy!), it’s portable and there’s no need for glasses.

I prefer the 3D off on my 3ds personally. I sometimes turn it up for cut-scenes, but that’s about it.
I personally think it would be good if the 3ds had a 3d glasses output and just the autostereoscopic as they do now. it’s make it better

It took me 4 days of keeping it at half-slider 3D to eventually make it stop hurting my eyes. Now I can slide it all the way to max.

I guess its because its not real 3d and just an illusion, so for many they don’t see it, or it just downright bothers them, I don’t have any problems seeing 3d on 3ds, at the movies, or at home, but i can see why people have problems.

The 3DS, I’ve gotten used to, so it doesn’t hurt my eyes, and it’s pretty cool. I somewhat dislike 3D elsewhere because of the need of glasses, though.
Even with that said, I don’t find 3D to be completely necessary. Graphics don’t make the game.

I like it, its a fun edition. I’m 19 and Ive been playing games since around 1995-1996 starting with the PC, NES and N64, and been gaming since. If people don’t like it, then they can turn it off, because its just a feature.
On a 3DS and at the movies theaters is fine. But I dont like it on home TVs. Not until they are MUCH cheaper and you dont have to were the stupid glasses. For now im fine with my 32inch tube square TV with a curved screen that cuts stuff out :P and now half the channels dont have sound on them because the tunner is going :P

I love my 3DS but ironically, I don’t have any 3D games on it (apart from Augmented Reality and Face Raiders which I like a lot.)
I did just download some 3D trailers though, I thought Super Mario Bros. 3D looked terrible and didn’t feel good on the eyes, Paper Mario was half and half but Mario Kart 7 and Mario Tennis both looked utterly fantastic in 3D.
I’m impressed with 3D, always turn it on but I believe it is completely unnecessary as I occasionally turn it off while playing (it gets annoying sometimes with OoT) and very frequently forget to turn it on back because I don’t even realise I’m playing with 3D off.
I like the 3D on the 3DS but it’s not making me run out and buy a 3DTV and a Playstation so I can play their games in 3D. If the next Nintendo handheld generation removes 3D capability, I wouldn’t be upset. Enhances the gameplay? Not really, I can live without it, but I love my little handheld and I hope it doesn’t crash and burn like the Virtual Boy.
Well when I had my 3ds it was cool at first, but now we have a 55″ 3d tv that uses the same glasses as the movies, not the expensive shutter ones, and it’s the best. I play everything in 3d, from games that were not made in 3d such as Uncharted to 3d enabled games such as God of War Origins.
Not a sony or xbox fan boy, I just appreciate 3d. So yes the % not happy with gaming on a smaller screen, but on a boligger screen, the 3d adds so much more.
I’m good with 3D as a feature, but it should never be a requirement. I love my 3DS and the 3D is superb, especially without needing glasses.

Overall, I’m unimpressed. On the 3DS, I only enjoy it on cutscenes. The “depth” that the 3D offers isn’t that impressive to me, and it requires holding the 3DS in JUST the right position to really enjoy it. Otherwise, if moved even slightly off, the depth is destroyed, “double” vision gets created, and the gameplay is now worse than in 2D. Atleast in 2D, I have the freedom to move about without restraining myself into some “locked” position just to enjoy a 3D effect. Often times, especially with OoT and Starfox, I find the 3D hinders my aim more than helps it. To me, it looks like I’ve aligned a shot perfectly, but it’s not, and the “depth” caused that distortion. In 2D, I can see more clearly when a shot is off slightly, and adjust as needed.
Most of that is nitpicking, but the article is about the 3D effect, and I can understand why gamers are unimpressed. Thankfully the 3DS has the slider, so I can flip in between 2D and 3D for cutscenes, otherwise I probably would of sold my 3ds by now.

I love 3D gaming on my 3DS. The only thing I don’t like about it is a SEVERE LACK OF HIGH-QUALITY TITLES. Playing StarFox 64 3D, Ocarina of Time 3D, and a few of the other games is a fantastic 3D experience.
I have not had the opportunity to play a 3D game on a home console yet, as I cannot afford a 3D TV. 3D on a home console is out of my budget at this time, but the more the technology is used, the lower the price will go (just like HD TVs). I would be very interested in the experience of 3D gaming on my home console, and I actually have a few games that are playable in 3D…just need that new TV.
Please, Nintendo (and other developers), don’t give up on 3D gaming yet!
I don’t think it is quite as impressive as it could have been, with our technology today. I also don’t like having to take breaks every 30 minutes when I’m busy trying to save Hyrule.
you know that when it tells you to take a break you don’t really have too. i played my 3DS for almost 7 hours straight while playing OoT and my eyes never bugged me. full 3D at that. :D

I hate statistics because you miss out a majority of people. Well I like it, but I only turn mines on when it’s a cutscene, bosses or interesting part of the game.
I think 3D is amazing when implemented properly. Everyone harps on how much they hate the glasses, but I don’t see the big deal with that. However, the 3DS is awful for 3D. Having to have your eyes dead center on the screen approximately 12″ away is not always ideal. Moving your face or the 3DS an inch or two can break your gaming experience.
Overall, 3D can put you into an experience very effectively if done properly, which only a handful of games and movies are.

Ok, here is the deal, the 3D effect is what it is. There is no way another company can make their “3D” better than Nintendo’s “3D”. The only thing that can be done is implementing it right, like Star Fox 64 3D = Fantastic, while Pokedex 3D’s 3D effect wasn’t actually within a 3D space. I know this because if you look at the screen from the side, you can clearly see when zooming in and out that the 3D effect is not hindered and is locked down, which should not happen. It’s not the system, it’s the games.
I like the 3D-gaming on the 3DS a lot, it’s actually really really good.
I can’t wait to play games like Paper Mario in 3D, I’m sure it’s going to be awesome.
But, as other people already mentioned, it’s not essential and I could also live without it. But, it’s an awesome feature I really enjoy.
But when it comes to wearing 3D-glasses, it gets kinda problematic for me, since I wear “normal” glasses anyway. I wouldn’t mind wearing the 3D-glasses at all, but it gets really bothersome and even starts to hurt when wearing 2 glasses at once. Sounds kinda stupid, but yea. And since I wouldn’t be able to see anything without my normal glasses, I just have to wear both when 3D glasses are needed. That’s another + for the 3DS, it’s glasses-wearer-friendly (:

I like the 3d on my 3ds, I always play it with 3d at full blast. It makes the games graphics sharper and more colorful and, playing in 2d just, Ya’know defeats the purpose of getting a 3Ds. Yup, that’s just my opinion.
I like the 3D, it’s pretty cool. It’s even useful in some situations; I find it hard to play Star Fox without it on. I’ll play with it off for most games, but it adds a lot to things like Star Fox (and I assume it will for the upcoming Mario game).

My highest guesses on current rumors is just after E3 2012 (June 12-14), The release date is most likely late June. As Nintendo released Zelda OC 3DS just after E3, Nintendo may give the chance for more players to have a go on the Wii U just like with Zelda OC 3DS.
Of course as of what happened with the 3DS launch, the 3DS was released in Europe two days earlier then USA. and about 27 days after the 3DS was released in Japan.
With Nintendo every console launch through years, different regions got it quicker like with the NES when it was released in Japan, North america had to wait just over 2 years until the NES was released. then compare with the gamecube America got the gamecube 2 months after Japan, then with the Wii, Europe got the Wii 6 days after Japan. but then compare with the 3DS.
As of the Dsi Australia got it a day before Europe, and the same with the Wii, and Australia got the DS lite before Europe, this was of 2006 and 2009. The Dsi XL however was released in Europe first then Australia last, and same thing happened with the 3Ds. since 2010 Europe got the consoles before Australia.
Australia got the Wii remote plus before Europe and with the Wii being released before Europe. There is a chance the Wii U could be released in Australia before Europe. Home consoles maybe different on release dates to hand held.
Europe mostly gets nintendo consoles before North america these days. Because of this Europe may get the Wii U a week after Japan launch and North america is most likely to get the Wii U after Europe. As nintendo and sony are based in Japan, the consoles are released there first, and Microsoft are based in USA, America get the Xbox first. and Australia got the 3DS last, but they got the Wii before Europe by a day.
In Europe games and consoles are almost always released on Fridays.
Japan will almost certainly get the Wii U first
Australia could get the Wii U before Europe

I didn’t buy my 3ds because of the 3d. I hardly ever turn it on except to show friends or family how 3d works without glasses. I am impressed with the 3d but its hard to play with it on for a while. I honestly got the 3ds because of all the titles specifically ocarina of time and animal crossing.

3D glasses typically don’t work for me, or if they do they give me incredible headaches after an hour, so I concur; the 3DS would probably be the same for me, even though it’s a different kind of 3D. I do think that 3D is gimmicky and only works best in small doses; this doesn’t make me change my mind about eventually buying the 3DS because the 3D isn’t obligatory in order to play.

definitely, 3D is not were it needs to be to be popular, right now its where HD is when it came out, too high end for most people and also a little bit impractical. but when 3d tech gets to where HD is now (cheap, and reliable, mainstream) then i feel a lot of companies will jump back on it.
