Nintendo has revealed, via their Japanese site, that the Wii U GamePad takes a lengthy 2.5 hours to fully charge, and that it will work for 3-5 hours before it needs recharging again. Thankfully it can be charged up via the console, so batteries won’t be an issue this time around.

erm.. well I have a life, as does EVERYONE, but I still find time to play games 6-10 hours some days, depends what I feel like doing. I could play a game for a weekend straight, but then get on with work the rest of the week, just depends… so no need to be so judgemental really.
It’s more than possible to spend that long playing a console, if it’s a day when you’re not going out or something, you may just spend the day playing a game, or at least more than one game. Ofc even if you don’t, it forces you to remember to constantly charge the controller each time you play it, or the battery would run out

I hope they will sell a cable you can connect to a USB port in the Wii U or something to charge while playing.

Lengthy 2.5 hours? Then again, I have a habit of charging all my devices while I sleep, so I don’t really care how long they take unless it’s more than 8 hours.
Me too, however with the time, the battery gets damage by overcharging… My 3DS original battery doesn’t last as it once did u.u But yeah it’s not a big, big issue.

Hmm.. until you said about charged up via the console in my head I was thinking that we need a charging like the 3DS so you can plug it in on a stand to charge, but I guess charging on the console is ok…. but then again, does that mean we need the console on for 2.5 hours to charge? That’s a lot of time to have the console on just to charge?

Yeah, but no one charges imediately after playing. Maybe you play for two hours, take a 30 min break, then play for another two hours. See the problem? Suddently, you have to recharge. Dammit, I’d say.

It also charges via the DSi / 3DS charger right? So you can play while charging as long as your near a power outlet, same as with any DS.
That’s very good. It’s not suprising considering the controller has a screen and many different features to employ. I’m fascinated by that black Wii U. Leave luck to heaven.
