Capcom Considered Remember Me For Wii U

Remember Me, a brand-new action-adventure game from Capcom, is not coming to Nintendo’s forthcoming Wii U. Capcom’s Christian Svensson claims that the reason for this decision is because Remember Me has been in the works long before Nintendo thought about its new console.

According to Svensson, Capcom considered bringing Remember Me to Wii U, but opted not to in order to keep developers focused on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC versions of the game. Remember Me will be released in the spring.

“As for WiiU, this project [Remember Me] was started many years ago, long before WiiU was even a twinkle in Nintendo’s eye. We explored the idea of adding a SKU, but in the name of keeping the team focused and not adding dev tasks for the team to get up to speed on new hardware and time to the schedule, we’ve opted to keep it on the original platforms for which it was planned.”

    1. STUPIT FAGCAKE I JUSS GEWT SUUU ANGERH WEN TEH STUPIT GYSE AR AL LIEK FIRST!!!! STFU AND GO SUCK MY DEEEECK BOI RAAAGEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!

  1. don’t they realize the game DOESN’T have to utilize the wii u pad? Couldn’t they just map the controls to the wii u pro controller? i mean it’s essentially an xbox controller (and that’s not a dig at the controller, just a fact)

these developers keep feeling like they have to add shit for the wii u pad. i mean it’s cool if they don, but is it REQUIRED?

    1. im so sick of all these companys saying we were going to put it on there but it wouldn’t make sense just say we don’t like putting our fuking games on nintendo systems ahh that’s better

  2. All this “we’re too far in development” talk from all these developers better result in plenty of Wii U multiplats and exclusives following said late 7th-gen projects.

    1. Most definitely. With a system lime this that opens up new possiblities in terms of gameplay, its hard for developers to games over that wouldnt just be the same game that the 360/ps3/PC will get. Good developers like new ideas, and letting their creative juices flow, and that takes time, and alot of work.

      1. Like you said, most definitely. As I told Eric Sellers below, a 3rd-party developer forcing a project onto a new platform only ends up hurting the developer and the console they’re trying to support. Still, it’s a bit hard hearing this over and over, and it makes me eager for those titles designed with the system in mind.

        1. Well even when i get a WiiU i still want to be able to have games on my ps3, get the full worth of the £250 i spent, rather than it just dying off once i got a WiiU so im fine with it, and when and if a PS4 releases, it’ll be the same case

        1. Thats why i said good developers. Either they out games on the WiiU because they have great ideas, or because they want money (COD). Anyone else is either Sony/Microsoft 1st party, or just a bad/lazy developer

  3. Much as I would have loved to see a new action-adventure game on the Wii U, I have to say that this was a smart choice on their part.
If they had tried and ended up producing an inferior game both on the Wii U and on all the other systems due to the further spreading of resources, only the consumers would have lost out in the end.
If it is ever going to come to the Wii U, it is better that it be at a later date, so that the Wii U version can be given all of the care that the first three versions are getting right now.
I may get it for the PS3, depending on what it’s like, and if I like it enough then I’ll end up getting it for the Wii U as well, should it ever release on the platform.

    1. Very much agree about this. Quality is a perfectly legitimate reason to not force a version of a game for a new platform. That really only ends up hurting both the developer and the console they’re trying to support. Still, it’s hard hearing that over and over again, and I look forward to when they come out with games designed with the platform in mind to balance that out.

  4. Seems reasonable enough, but its not like they NEED to use the gamepad extensively or at all, and they can put it on the system in a few weeks.
Oh well, this, Dead Space 3 and Lord of Shadow 2 will keep my ps3 alive which is good.
A cyberpunk future with memory manipulation, parkcour, stealth and all with a FEMALE protagonist. Sign me up :D

  5. And this… is the reason why the Wii U will go to shit.. itll just be like the WII!! YEt anuther shitty console from Nintendont.

    1. I wouldn’t call this a snub of the Wii U. The developer clearly wants to develop for the system, but the project was never really designed for it and to start development for Wii U would take away from the project’s overall resources which would then affect the quality. Hopefully Dontnod (the developer) comes up with something great for the system after this project.

      1. BTW, I’m fully aware the article says the initial idea to bring the game to Wii U was Capcom’s. Glad they made a sensible decision on this.

    1. Seriously, this really is a fanboy comment. They actualy gave a reasonable excuse. Its not like ither developers like EA with Dead Space, where they just say, “no its not”. Capcom gave a full explaination on why, and i fully understand why.

        1. Capcom have been dickish in the past 2 years but they still make good games, and this is one more example (most likely), but just because a game isnt coming to WiiU doesnt make them bad. I have a conversation with sonofmrpeanut, read it, you get a better understanding of how the WiiU’s launch is different from others

                1. yeah with wii u gamepad controls this time and im sure it will be ported down the line when sony bring out there move pads shameful this is the generation of copying

    2. I wouldn’t call this Capcom dismissing the system. Sure other 7th-gen multiplat titles made their way onto the Wii U like Batman: AC, Aliens: Colonial Marines and Assassin’s Creed 3, but from what I can tell those projects aren’t suffering from resources being redirected to a Wii U version. According to Svensson, this game might have suffered a lost of quality by redirecting resources to a platform it was never intended for, and it was Capcom’s call to nix the idea. Hopefully this unannounced Capcom title is a great use of the system, and I hope to see the developer Dontnod make games it as well.

      1. Actually, they are working with Nintendo. Crytek keeps denying Crysis 3 Wii U, but they will do it because they LOVE money.

            1. Its hilarious that you had to use 3 different accounts to even reply. And if i apparently live on the site, at least im doing it because i want Nintendo news, and dicussions. You’re doing it at a useless attempt at trolling, because you dont like fanboys…ermmm, just a thought? If you dont like them, dont go on a nintendo news site? I dont like falling over and hurtin myself, doesnt mean i do it. Your logic is obsurd, and your “views” are equally obsurd.

              1. Three accounts that take literally a split second to make, but with consistent replies to you. Grasping at straws is your forte when you can’t come up with anything else.

                  1. I don’t see the relevance in you counting these, but then again, I guess I can’t exactly try to deciper stupidity from intelligence, the former of which is what you’re known for.

  6. Capcom just tell the truth. You have no idea what to do with the gamepad. So instead of just porting a game that won’t be to hard to do & (from what darksider 2 developer talk about not hard to do & take lest then a month) you rather skip the system. Instead of giving possibility to all consumers. Im not surprise it’s capcom. The same company to have dlc on disk. The same company to run megaman name in the mud & blame fans. The same company to change the resident evil to the point its own creator can’t recognize.

    1. You must understand though, this game most likely began in development in 2009/2010, why waste resources porting a game to the wiiu and adding new stuff to it when they were probably already 70 percent done with the original one? Waste of resources and money. Might as well wait and make the sequel come to the wiiu. (knowing capcom, there’s going to be a sequel.)

  7. Ahh speaking of Capcom, when is there going to be another megaman game??? Did canceling legends 3 really kill the franchise?

  8. And it continues. Nintendo fails to get third party support. CURRENT GEN consoles still get the games and this wii add on is next gen? Lolz

    1. And it continues… Maker fails at becoming Aeolus and Siegfried von Scrotum adding bullshits and shenanigans. Nintendo STILL has third party support. Just because they’ve been given the PDA doesn’t mean it’s gonna stay on forever. Wii U is a stand along next gen game console. Don’t believe us, DON’T FUCKING POST IT HERE AT MYNINTENDONEWS, LOSER!!!!!!

      1. PDA?! Hahahahahahahaha hoes to show you don’t no what the fuck you are talking about…

NDA you fag fanboy hahahahah what third party support? Ah right old games and gimped ports. Cool…too bad I canget my games on current gen consoles with great online and a big userbase. Good one

Come back when you actually have a next gen looking game like watch dogs (multiplat anyway)

        1. Nope… it is YOU who are a fag who doesn’t know fucking shit. Your intelligence is inferior, you IQ is the same as a goddamn neanderthal. NDA stands for Non-Disclosure Agreement. That means Nintendo have informed their third party publishers and developers not to give any details or information about their games on the Wi U until they make an announcement of the price of their new console.

Go back to your cave where you always dwell, Amir. You lose! Good day, sir!

  9. And once again, Capcom pulls yet another statement right from their corporate asses. If it’s been in development for THAT long, we would’ve at least heard about it way before this gen even started.

Make plays, not excuses Capcom. If you really wanna support the Wii U, start showing some games for it instead of taunting your fans at “what ifs.”

    1. Really? Diablo 3 was 8 years in development and you saw the first footage only 1-2 years before release. Similar situation with Starcraft 2.
Most console Zelda games are around 3 years in development and you see footage only a year before release.

Sometimes keeping a project a secret, especially a project in long development is the best option.
Just think about it. Capcom announces it, it’s 5 years in development. Other publisher think “cool concept, people like it, let’s make something really similar and release it before it”. It doesn’t even need to be of higher quality as long as it resembles the Capcom project. They will “steal” possible buyers and leave a bad taste in the mouth because of the rushed development.

Same reason why Nintendo stopped announcing anything long before release. Other companies copy it without breaking patent/copyright laws and fuck you up.

Also, Capcom said they will soon announce their games planed for the WiiU.

        1. Watch Dogs is a good example. Just from the gameplay footage you can see that they game was long in development. Everything looked perfectly like if it was already finished, jet they are still working on it. I think it’s at least 1.5 years in development.

We are in the generation of copycats. Sometimes it’s good, but most of the times it’s bad for the consumer and for the developer/publisher. Announcing to early is almost economical suicide.

          1. Exactly. I can only see the lie of better graphics being shown up next gen. Put it this way. If the WiiU is going to be as underpowered as people say, compared to the next box and ps4, consider this. As common with games this gen, it was all pretty graphics, but games that were mainly under 6 hours long (uncharted, dead space, tons of others). Now all next gen systems will use 25GB optical disks that can be dual layered to 50GB. Would you rather have a flashy 5-7 hour romp, or a graphically “inferior” although it makes no difference, 30 hours+ Zelda, Metroid ect, for the same price. Graphics dont matter anymore, and people are going to start to see that, when the games are once again short as hell.

  10. My Lord when will y’all stop? Y’all complain about ever small pointless article or quote from some developer like the world is ending. How many games does Nintendo need at lunch really? The line up is overwhelming as it is, I still don’t know what I’m getting first day, then add in all the games coming 2013 that havn’t been announced. They don’t need this game, name one Capcom game that has blown your mind in the last 5-6 years, I don’t care about this pointless game. Fall back and get a grip Wii U is doing everything right right now to the point that PSdrones and Microslaves can’t go to work from stressing over Nintendo game changing Controller, and no I’m not a fanboy just Fan of Gaming and has two eyes that can see Nintendo is about to go Ham on the market, and I’m ready!!

    1. Im getting Pikmin 3, Darksiders 2 and maybe even Sega All Stars racing, need a fun online game. After that, i think i’ll be set for a few months with all the oter releases xD

    2. I wouldn’t generalize that way. If you actually read the comments, the wast majority is actually defending Capcom because they gave a good reason why they aren’t developing it for the WiiU.

Also, they didn’t say they will never port it over. If the WiiU is successful, they will most likely port it over. They just don’t want to stretch their development resources to much.

And for the game that blow my mind. Monster Hunter Tri. Been playing it since it was released. One of the best games of this generation.

      1. MHtri…..ok, not into that franchise, but ok, still the point is Capcom isn’t doing big things and there no reason for trip off of this unproven game. Capcom has made game after game that were hyped up just to end up being a disappointment. MH and SF is all they got, they killed RE, DMC, and ya that trailer of RM isn’t impressive. WII GOOD

    3. Staff-D: You got it right. The Wii U launch line up is filled to the brim with awesome games. I’m getting Darksiders 2, Ninja Gaiden 3 and either Assassin’s Creed 3 or Mass Effect 3.

  11. Wow, I am a huge Nintendo fan, but the amount of entitlement in these comments is disgusting. Yes, how DARE Capcom want to focus on finishing a game instead of slapping a half-assed port on the WiiU while taking resources away from the versions already in development?

  12. Crapcom…………….all will be forgiven if you release MML3, MH3TG, and MH4 for 3DS and put MH5 and RE6 on Wii U.

  13. I just came back from the future and the game is shit and bombed in sales causing Capcom to go bankrupt.

It’s an of an era people.

  14. I call BS, unless this game has been in the works since 2006 it’s younger than the Nintendo’s work on the Wii U, if you haven’t noticed Nintendo starts working on the new console as soon as the previous hits shelves…

  15. sorry to hear this. Maybe they’ll decide to bring it to wii U eventually like Batman: AC and others. Better late than never. Leave luck to heaven.
