New Super Mario Bros 2, which was released in the United Kingdom on Friday, has managed to enter the all-formats software charts at number two. Mario’s latest adventure couldn’t dethrone Sleeping Dogs for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. Mario And Sonic At The London 2012 Olympic Games for Wii and Nintendo DS arrived at number five.

Why? I love Nintendo as much as you, but NSMB2 is not very good at all, it lacks in creativity, originality and the coin collecting just isn’t fun enough to make whole new game to revolve around it. Sleeping Dogs well deserved beat NSMB2 here.
NSMB2 is pretty good if you ask me. It is pretty similar to the other two NSMB games that’s also pretty good. But I think that True Crime: Hong kong is pretty similar to the other 2 True Crime games which I found decent at best.

One thing I find good about Sleeping Dogs is the battle system, which is very well done.
True that, but Sleeping Dogs sucks ass, to me. NSMB2 just got outsold because it’s going against 3 platforms at a time. It’s like being proud CoD sells a gazillion units, when in fact they’re selling on 3-4 different platforms at a time. I bet it’ll get no.1 here in the states.
I know the reason of why it didn’t sell as much as a multiplatform game, and I’m not ”proud” either that it sold well (and I think it’s idiotic that some people on this site do seem to be so for Nintendo games). I just think that it had more right to sell better because I think it’s a better game. But at that moment we get back at the ”to each his own” thing. Which will have no end of discussion :P.

Sleeping Dogs is a very good game, but because everything other than Nintendo sucks according to Nintendo fanboys, they never even give it a chance.

nsmb2 is a pretty damn fun games, and the fact that it is at number 2, despite it being a 3ds EXCLUSIVE is pretty impressive. and i do agree, sleeping dogs definately deserves to be at the top, but dont discredit the quality of nsmb2, even if its not entirely fresh or new, it’s still a great game.

I don’t know. I’m sure many people, including myself, see it as the same thing as NSMB Wii without bringing much in the way of new content to the games. Don’t get me wrong, I like Mario but I don’t want to buy this one. I’d rather spend that money on daily deals on Steam.

you forgot to put over before hyped.. It’s pretty much the sequel to True Crime: New York (but they changed the name from True Crime for OBVIOUS reasons) which sucked harder than Kirby when he devours food.
The obvious reason the name was changed from True Crime is because Activision owns the True Crime franchise and this game was published by Square-Enix.
Activision dropped this game which started out as True Crime: Hong Kong and from that Square-Enix picked it up and the birth of a new IP came, Sleeping Dogs.

well it has really nice graphics , the gameplay is awesome , better than ever and the coin counter and coin rush and collecting every coin is very challengeing and tons of fun. nuff said.

Well Nintendo made NSMB2 show how boring the NSMB franchise can be. I mean they out done themselves with SM3DL an then this?! Define high quality. Visuals? Doesnt mean shit. Its still an incredibly boring ass game, in a boring city, with a main character that’ll probably die at the end because Rockstar watched Scarface 200 times over, and basically use its general story line. Its shit.
GTA IV isn’t ‘shit’. It’s just not up to standard with other games on the market. As aesthetically beautiful and detailed as the game is, there’s little incentive to explore the – quite bland – map and complete the very generic storyline.
I hated gta iv. So much. Still haven’t finished it.
It’s a different genre, so perhaps it isn’t supposed to deliver the things you want to see in a game?
It’s a very good sandbox game, and whether you think the city is boring or not, the gameplay and combat system are both great.
If you don’t like boring cities, does that mean you don’t like boring levels either? If that’s the case you should probably dislike NSMB2 too, which doesn’t have spectacular new backgrounds or anything spectecularly new apart from coins for that matter.
I much rather keep my eye out for the 3D Mario games, and maybe/hopefully a Metroid, Super Smash Bros. I always like, Luigi’s Mansion Dark Moon is something I’m excited for. But this? This game is one of which i can not comprehend as to why so many people are excited for it.

Well, it does have a hidden bonus of digital copies. And, almost certainly, it’ll be the 2012 game with the most life-long sales. As opposed to most games that come out nowadays, NSMB2 will sell steadily for at least four more years, just like its predecessors.

Nothing unexpected here.
Nintendo is so lucky to have so loyal fans. After seeing all of these comments on this page, I’ve forgotten why Nintendo get so many sales even if the games are basically the same. Alas, I’m not one of those loyal fans anymore, because I’ve realized after playing other games than Nintendo games that there are more new, fresh ideas out there that I haven’t even tried because I was stuck for one company only.
In my opinion, this is just the same thing again and people are paying more than they should for such a game. I know that Nintendo will keep this “high quality price” even for their portable consoles since people buy it, but I hope that they can at least consider lowering the price after a year or so to attract more people that don’t have lots of money to buy it. They are doing it right with Nintendo Selects for Wii, but there are so many titles they can use that for. I still can’t think that stores that sell games like Super Mario 64 DS or Mario Party 8 still have those games for the same price as when they launched. That’s insane.

Super Mario 64 DS came out in 2004 I believe, which means it’s been out for 8 years and it still hasn’t got a price-cut! I’m sorry, but a remake of a 10 year old game for an outdated console today that has a price which is as much as a modern 3DS game is completely bizarre.

Not surprising. Sleeping Dogs is a great game on three gaming platforms. NSMB2 is a good (but fun) game on one platform, in a country which is not considered Nintendo crazy.
But number two is a great place to be in, some great games are placed in number two of the charts.
Besides, in the long run, NSMB2 will continue to sell well for a very long time (seeing that it is Mario, and the track recorded the previous two games had, being some of the best-selling games of their respective systems). Sleeping Dogs, however, I expect to wither in sales over the next few weeks like most games, especially since how many people are only buying it to fill the summer release drought.
I’m sort of surprised, although the big question is which game will do better in the long run, and my money’s on New Super Mario Bros 2.
