Based on a page from Game Informer’s latest issue on Wii U, Nintendo has confirmed that not all Wii U games will use Wii MotionPlus, and developers have the option of whether they want to implement Wii MotionPlus in their games.
A couple of Nintendo Land attractions, including Metroid Blast and The Legend of Zelda: Battle Quest, require Wii MotionPlus for their multiplayer components; but Animal Crossing: Sweet Day and Luigi’s Ghost Mansion, for example, can be played by using original Wii Remotes for multiplayer.
It might just be me but I think it should be required to even work with Wii U.

It just makes it more complicated for the consumer in the end, but if you went M+ only then not everyone would be able to use their wiimotes and that’s what Nintendo wanted to let consumers do, because they know millions of people have wiimotes. Hopefully the majority will just use motion plus and then become the standard.

The last of us.. You really consider that a new IP? Yes, technically it is, but It’s Uncharted with different characters/story. If Nintendo made a platformer, with a character named Joe Bob who could jump, break blocks, grab powerups and save the day by defeating the evil alien overlord, you would consider that a new IP from Nintendo? Yes, the last of us looks good, and Uncharted was a good series. In reality, it’s more or less Uncharted 4 with a new cast and story. Not really THAT innovative.

Well, actually, the Move is hugely more accurate than a Wii Remote (even with Motion Plus), but the move just has no games for it.

I’m pretty sure that’s a given. The Gamepad is the core of Wii U, not the Wii Motion Plus. However, I do want to see more genius uses of Motion Plus on Wii U. Wii is pretty much done with as far as high quality motion titles go.
Actually is you payed attention theyre going to implement both. The focus on the upad was a mistake iwata admitted because people thought that it was a wii accessory and calling wii u doesnt help. Yes wii u will basically be the main attraction but wii motion plus will also be used side by side for alot of their games especially their back catalog. Only game to fully use the wii motion plus was mii resort smh and from their skyward sword was born. Id like for them to focus more on the upad ill be modding for thepc master race. Hopefully steam makes great things to innovate the pc system.

Thats fair enough, but i’ll still need at least 1 ir 2 more. Ive only got the gold Motion+ i got with Skyward Sword, so id need at least 1 more for NintendoLand, if i get it. Otherwise, i wont buy one until i need it.
Also does anyone know if theyre remodelling the motion+ controllers so theyre rechargable? The gamepad and pro controller are both rechargable, so it would make sense if the made rechargable wiimote as a standard too

It’s the ”not every game will NEED Motion Plus”, and even then the Wii Remotes are really only used for multiplayer it seems. So in single player you don’t need a Wii Remote at all.

kinect is a laggy camera no actual controller that is limited to 300 degrees per second motion it cannot do anything like a wii remote or plus, move is also limited to 300 degrees per second motion and again lags and has a huge aim radius vs wii remotes mouse like 1mm aim
wii motion plus has 1600 degrees motion tracking not only is it 6 x more than move or kinect its lag free calobrates correctly and is in your hand so can do almost any motion or physics that would happen in game relating to real world like gold clubs etc

Let me say this: I have no earthly idea how the Wii U can succeed. The thing is so darn confusing. Why in the world are they mow saying its an option? The freaking Wii Remote should only be used on Wii games and Nintendo only games for minimal support (GamePad should ALWAYS be first and foremost). I don’t get Nintendo. Not to mention the fact that Nintendo’s 3DS sales had went up 400% after lowering the price. Microsoft may have the investment in releasing the Xbox 8 in 2014-15, but Sony is in bad shape. They had laid off 10,000 employees, lost $6.4 billion according to CNN.com and Bloomberg and have closed the developement team at Sony Liverpool (formerly Psygnosis). I don’t think Sony have the right investment in creating a PS4 during their 10 year lifespan of PS3. Sony is ultimately losing the console war and needs to do something quickly before they’ll end up sharing the same demise like Atari, NEC, Mattel Electronics, and Sega.

Even the facts will tell you this, if Wii U is only slightly more powerful than PS3 and 360, like Wii was compared to Xbox and PS2, it will lose support to PS4 and Xbox 8. Like Wii, developers aren’t going to remake their game on a totally separate engine just so Wii U gamers will get it. While it is true Wii U is getting ME3, AC3, and many other awesome 3rd party titles, when next Gen titles come out, such as AC4, GTAVI, ME4, you actually think they’re gonna be ported to Wii U? There’s no chance when XB8 and PS4 can run much more powerful games on much more powerful engines. This is why Wii bogged down.
