    1. for the tech and free services you are getting (Nintendo TV)… it is priced just right. I am amazed at the TV service integration (just the sports option with real time interaction is worth the money). I am definitely preordering this.

    2. The console should be more like $450. You should be lucky Nintendo is willing to price so low. Good for the consumer, possibly bad for the company

  1. it’s a little bit more than i expected but it’s not bad too.but i think nintendo shouldn’t have to wait for big numbers at the launch everyone will think it will drop like 3ds and wait.

  2. So America gets their version called the Deluxe version yet we here in Europe and people in Japan expensive version is called the Premium version… haters gonna hate.

  3. They should should start an ambassador program straight away… It cost nothing to put old games on the eshop… So people who buy in the first 3 months gets free eshop games… The same way they did for 3ds but not as an apology, as an award

  4. Guys, you really expect a launch system to be cheaper than $300 – $350? The 3ds was 250 at launch and the wiiu is WAY more sophisticated than that OR any of the previous gen consoles, I think its relatively cheap!

    1. It’s not way more sophisticated then a PS3 and you can buy one of those at $249.99. I’m sorry but it’s way overpriced and there is nothing at launch that is a must buy except maybe Zombiu and that isn’t even a NIntendo title.

      1. yea all the tv services and the stronger console isnt worth 50 bucks more than ps3 really!? That wii TVii is worth 8 bucks a month on its own and its free!

      2. First off, the Wii U is vastly more sophisticated than the PS3, which is using now-archaic tech in comparison.

Second, you can’t compare what Sony is charging for an aging system to what Nintendo is asking for a new system. At launch, the PS3 had three formats priced at $399 for basic (20 GB HD, smaller than the Deluxe Wii U), with the more advanced versions costing as much as $600. This price for the Wii U is very fair.

    2. Cheap, but it will cost Nintendo more money in losses than the PS3 at launch. At least Sony made their consumers pay a price more closely associated with the manufacturing costs and tried to not take a huge shortfall.

      Just see my post below.

      1. The ps3 price was a damn lie.. Blu ray was artificially high just like their memory cards. You guys fell for it. Yet Nintendo gives you real hd and you can’t see the difference.

        1. Umm… I bought a Wii, I just got a PS3 last summer cause the price was so cheap and I wasn’t making as much use of my Wii as I used to.

Blu-Ray was a brand new technology at the time. PS3 was the cheapest blu ray player on the market for quite some time. That’s why Sony was loosing money with each system sold

  5. $350 is not too bad. Why are people complaining? $400 would’ve been fine, but $350 is better! Same for $300. Those are great prices. I applaud you Nintendo.

      1. YEAH! I can’t even mind people sayin “oh no” when is a reasonable price for a nex gen console, even cheaper than ps3 launch :3

  6. I think the price point is fair. The problem is that analysts have turned the market against Nintendo consoles in favour of smartphones. To this effect, Nintendo might need to release a title that draws out the power of the amd r770 and direct x 10 quickly

  7. WOW ! Deluxe version will be mine too ! 32GB + Nintendo Land + Black + Support + Nintendo Network Premium ! I want you beautiful ! lol

  8. Oh my god… Does Nintendo know what they’re doing? I love Nintendo and all but the Wii U is going to cost Nintendo an outrageous amount in losses. The controller is worth £107 as reported by this site. In other words, $175. The system bundle is $300 in total. So the Wii U system hardware is only worth $125? You’ve got to be kidding me. Thats not even with cords and cables included.

The Wii bundle is currently $150. The cost of controllers is $50. So, not counting cords, Wii hardware is worth $100.

There is no way that you can get me to believe for a second that the highly upgraded and probably expensive hardware of the Wii U is only $25 more than the Wii. I’m not sure how much loss is expected with the sale of each system but it will be HUGE.

    1. That’s too soon to call.
For one, you don’t need a second controller, especially if you have a classic or a wiimote plus+nunchaku, so that cost should not be included.
Second, it’s the grand games that will sell the system. They won’t take losses on this because it’s something that people have been expecting.
In this economy, even a minimum-wage, part-time job would give you enough money in a two week period to nab a Wii U.
This is a more than fair price for something that’s more powerful than current gen consoles.
If they had tried selling it for near the same price as a Wii, people would have started questioning the quality of the stuff on the inside.

    2. The retail cost you jackanape… a controller that is fifty dollars to consumers does not contain fifty dollars of hardware, the same thing goes for the game pad and wiiu. Products are manufactured, those are purchased by a whole saler>retail store at much lower cost than what they sell the item for. Albeit the 3ds was an exception Nintendo does not sell its products for a loss.

      1. Eric: The controller included is still manufactured by nintendo and the cost of that controller is included in overall price. I’m already questioning the quality of the console

Fallen: Okay, so the retail cost is $300. That means manufacturing cost is probably about $250. With a $100 game pad, the Wii U hardware is somewhere around $150. For a console that is supposedly better than a PS3 and has state of the art gaming technology, that is very very cheap. I don’t see how Nintendo can make a profit off of this product. It should cost more, but its doesn’t.

  9. I really wouldn’t be complaining guys in the usa, Here in Canada (Or at least in BC) we have to pay $42 in taxes! thats close to $400 So we got ripped off in Canada

  10. These were exactly the price points I thought of ever since the Wii U debuted.

$250 for basic would have been better, but even $300 is okay.

They’re providing some very strong incentive to get Nintendo Land now, since the Deluxe comes with stuff you would need if you had only the basic version.

  11. I think $350 is a good price, just think, basic is $300, just to add 1 game would be $350, but for $350 your getting more space, game, charging station, and game stands which would be at least over $120 value which would make it well worth it to get the Deluxe, its like buy it with the game and get the big upgrade for free.

  12. $300 for a Wii U Basic Set and $350 for a Wii U DX Set bundled with Nintendo Land… and a 10% discount on digital game downloads for one year. Time for me to fatten the piggy bank and pre-order the Wii U Deluxe. After it’s ready (like Reggie’s body), I’m planning on getting a Pro controller, Batman: Arkham City: Armored Edition, and Rayman Legends!

  13. Nice price, so cheap that’s great but here in Mexico it’s so bloody full of taxes and stealers, at least 6mil pesos ($60) so you’re lucky and stop saying it’s way too expensive

  14. 300 – 350 dollars for a tablet/gaming console all in one. that is a hell of a steal. sorry apple i’m going with Nintendo on this one

  15. $350?????? ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? HAHAHA!!!!

Looks like I won’t be buying the Wii U anytime soon. I’m going to wait 2 or 3 years to buy one. At least by then It will be cheaper and have games.

    1. U mad loser? Everyone will be buying the Wii U and you simply cannot deny it. And just like when the Nintendo 64 was launched in Japan, it’s gonna clear store shelves in less than a day. The time is now!

      1. Well it depends how much cash you have on hand. The price is very good, but only if you have the money to afford it. Some people don’t like having massive credit card debt…

  16. TOO MUCH the wii u system is $125 thats not with the cables and everything imma wait a few years by then the pricee iiss lesss

  17. do your research the wii u is $125 and with cables wires adds up too 300 way too much you peeps desperate for a little toy
