The Official Nintendo Magazine has listed 12 characters that should be in the next Super Smash Bros. title for Wii U. Among the 12 are Professor Layton, Pac-Man, Little Mac, Sukapon, King K. Rool, Travis Touchdown, Jack Cayman, Mr. Driller, Geno, Mega Man, Waluigi and Bowser Jr. Based on the characters listed by the video game magazine, which ones should replace existing characters in Super Smash Bros. Brawl‘s roster?

Layton, Pheonix Wright, Xenoblade, Last Story, Bayonetta 2 (i guess), No More Heroes, they were all published by Nintendo, so Nintendo can say “hey, come join Smash Bros”, because their consumer has played those games.
As of now, the only characters we can sure as hell expect are Kid Icarus Uprising characters, seeing as Sakurai made it
Pheonix Wright was in Marvel vs Capcom 3 (since Ace Attorney is a Capcom franchise), so I guess he could be in another fighter.
Layton, although he has fought in some cutscenes in his games, I can’t really picture in a brawler/fighter.
Xenoblade characters and possibly Bayonetta could be good fits.
Also: No More Heroes wasn’t published by Nintendo – I don’t believe. The game(s) was published by Marvelous Entertainment, Ubisoft, Konami, and Rising Star games across several different platforms.

Jigglupuff is a well needed character who deserves her spot in the game. I see no reason to leave her in the cold. A character I could do withouth though is Falco. He is annoying because he has the exact same moveset as Fox :S He is a character TRULY unnedded.

Falco is a cool character and if they tried they could give him some different moves! (He IS a bird!) Although I agree that Jigglypuff is needed. There are no characters like her (gameplay wise) and she is awesome. I don’t think there are any unneeded characters. there are a couple i never figured out how to use well and I thought were irritating (ROB, Yoshi, Sonic) but I don’t really want them kkicked out because I like having weirdos to beat up. (also it sucks because Yoshi is cool in everything else)

For everyone saying that Pac-man is a terrible choice, think about. Pac-man can have his moveset from the Pac-man World games, the rev roll would be side B, Pac-dot toss would be B, Butt Bounce would be down B, and maybe the Pac-dot chain link would be his up B move. His final Smash would have him eat a Power Pellet and everyone else would turn into blue Pac-man ghost, if Pac-man chomps on you, it’s an instant K.O. Or draw a Pac-man on the gamepad ala Pac-Pix. Plus the point of characters appearing in Smash Bros is if they have appeared in Nintendo consoles once or so, which is why we got Snake and Sonic.
I agree with Megaman being on Smash Bros, he’d fit in just fine but like what Capcom said to Sumo Digital, they’d say no. Agreed on Travis cause he’s awesome. Maybe Wreck-It Ralph, or atleast a cameo. I’d like to see Captain N in the game as a playable fighter, I’d use him all the time lol. Plus in the cartoon, the worlds had a hub like world where all the game worlds were connected, kinda like Smash Bros so it would be neat.

Wreck-it Ralph and Captain N can’t be in, for the same reasons that Goku or Ichigo couldn’t – one of the requirements is that the character has to have originated in a video game. If not for that stipulation, Iron man would easily make my top 10. As it stands, though, my actual top 10 works out to be:
1. No Cuts from Brawl (much as I hate Diddy and Jiggz…)

I think Wreck-It Ralph should get a pass from that rule seeing as how he’s, for all intents and purposes, a video game character. And the fact that he was inspired by Donkey Kong and Nintendo in general. Iron Man is not in the same situation Ralph is.
No clue how Genesect would work as a playable character. I think he’d be better off as a chance from the Pokeball and would use a random form of his techno blast attack.

That’s just in Skyward Sword though… I want him to be just left-handed in the wii u version.
Actually, in more than one 2-D Zelda game, Link switches the hand he swings his sword with if you’re facing East, so that he swings with his right hand.
Also, Twilight Princess for the Wii had him as a right-handed fighter at all times, too.
Artwork for those games shows link left-handed and it does seem weird if link just switches his hands depending on which way he faces, I don’t know why they did that with the sprites. As for twilight princes, it is mirrored from the GameCube version. I just like link being left-handed and I hope they don’t include motion controls for the Wii U Zelda.

A hunter from monster hunter 3, robo cop, megaman, bad mr.frosty (clay fighter), ditzy( battletoads), Jimmy lee (double dragon), pacman, billy (river city ransom), ryu, mayor (Sim city), toad, and Naruto.
Monster Hunter characters just wouldn’t work well as a playable character, although as a trophy, I could imagine stuff like Hunting Horns to boost the stats of or heal the user. Or maybe even have felynes for kicks. Smash Brothers tends to have a spirit that you can’t take super seriously, and the felyne comrades in the portable games would be perfect for that. =P

There are A LOT of Nintendo characters out there. If you didn’t know that, please take the time to shut the hell up. I think Professor Layton, Megaman (Volnutt or Classic would be fine, I don’t care much for X), Pacman (NOT in Mokujin suit, but instead in his old, standard attire with the boxing gloves), King K. Rool, Roy, Ridley (nurf in size like Charizard and Bowser), replace JigglyPuff with Gallade or Scizor, add the guy from Golden Sun, Knuckles, Toad, Daisy (she can have different moveset from Peach), and someone from Xenoblade, Mutant Mudds, and either King, Jaycee, Xaioyu, or Alisa from Tekken. IMO

Only clone (somewhat) is toon link. Wolf kind of, but at the same time he attacks quite differently at the same time. Besides there are lots of people who like some of those characters.

These characters are a selection of possible 3rd party guests. I think these 8 bit and 16 bit characters and other exclusives are great candidates. I am shocked no one suggested adding more of Sega characters. Tails, Dr. Robotnik, Knuckles, Shadow and Rouge. Also Squirtle and Charzard should be its own character. I wish Rare was still with Nintendo because Banjo-Kazooie would have been perfect. In fact Rare characters period. Samus and Zero Suit should be different characters. I didn’t like that much. I’d like to see MewTwo come back. If Nintendo really owns the rights to all Donkey Kong characters, Tiny, Lanky and Chunky would be great. In addition they aren’t even cloned players.
I agree with all the characters listed in the article EXCEPT for Travis Touchdown and Jack Cayman…those two really don’t fit the happy cartoony feel that Super Smash has to offer. They both come from rated M games and the games have excessive amounts of blood(Madworld) or sexually explicit scenes. That just doesn’t work…

Jack, Travis & Little Mac would be some hardcore characters… I really don’t think any of these characters will be in the game though… Its a shame :/ Hope Nintendo supports DLC characters for the new Smash… Then they could just take votes/suggestions later on for new characters :)
If Smash 4 does support DLC, I can at least picture it being for custom character costumes for the 3DS version, then they’ll be transferred to the Wii U version. Hopefully, the DLC will be just optional.
(I have never downloaded DLC for any game I have by far, and I heard Nintendo’s DLC policy is a great policy)

Ace Attorney has always felt Nintendo to me….even though they have been on other platforms. There are just some 3rd party series that feel far more Nintendo than others. Series that are just as valid a part of Nintendo history and culture as Nintendo’s own series. At least that’s how I look at it.
Most of all I would like to see a Golden Sun and Animal Crossing character as playable characters. Also Fawful would be great to see.
Even though I say that I couldn’t see Phoenix Wright being a fighter. All I can think of some cheesy awkward moveset where he points his finger and everyone and slams invisible desks.

Just like Melee had all of the first and second generations legendary Pokemon as pokeball pokemon. Put in all of the of the third and fourth generations legendary pokemon as pokeball pokemon. Please do this Sakurai. I know Kyurem is a fifth generation pokemon but I would also like to see him as a pokeball pokemon. If you don’t make kyurem a pokeball pokemon, at least make all of the third and fourth generations pokemon pokeball pokemon.
