Famed Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter says that it’s a good move by Nintendo to release Wii Mini as the original console is still selling good numbers. Many people have questioned the timing of the release considering Nintendo has just released its successor Stateside. We heard earlier this week that Nintendo managed to sell 300,000 Wii consoles last week globally
“That is the first I’ve heard of it. I agree that it may have been better to bring it out when the Wii was still popular, but Nintendo might have a strategy to keep the Wii alive. They apparently sold 300,000 Wiis last week globally, so the console isn’t quite dead yet.”
I don’t think it’s dead yet, and I would love to see it keep selling awesomely.
But I’m hoping this won’t convince people to pass on the Wii U in any way, I want it to sell well.
Giiiiiiiiirl
Hell yeah, Gaming girls are AWESOMEEEE !!!!
my god you guys are pathetic
^
You is fit.
I agree that it isn’t dead. But now that I see the look of the Wii Mini. I would of rathered that instead of the actual wii console itself. It looks so puuuurdy lol x3
The end of the world will come alot sooner…

soo.. these guys are apparently trying to keep themselves from ever having children? i don’t see what the point of this would be otherwise oO
can’t say i disapprove.. judging by the vids removing their genes from the pool is probably the most sensible thing they can do
oh.. yea, not it makes sense. very responsible thing to do then.
now*
why… why would anybody do that? -_-
Love the colour scheme, I wonder how much Nintendo are making on each unit? Anyway these will probably sell quite good over the Christmas holidays. Hopefully it comes to AUS.
What the Nazis want when they rule the world…being even more stupid…
I am definitely getting this new wii. My son need a nice Christmas present. The wii u is my present and the wii will be his…. pure genius!!!!!
Get N or get OUT!!!!
so it was 300000 globally after all
thought as much but reggie made it sound like it was 300000 in the US alone
No, it was the US alone. Pachter wrong again…
do you have a source? because reggies statement was ambiguous this one here isn’t
no news site i could find made a clear statement either
The original story on CNET specifically quotes US numbers only.
http://news.cnet.com/8301-10797_3-57554183-235/nintendo-400k-wii-u-units-sold-1.2m-devices-total/
“Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime told CNET in a phone interview today that during the last week, its internal data has shown total U.S. hardware sales have reached more than 1.2 million units. That figure includes the Wii U, Wii, 3DS, and DS.
According to Fils-Aime, Nintendo sold over 700,000 consoles during the last week. The Wii U topped the Wii with 400,000 units sold. The Wii, which Nintendo launched all the way back in 2006, was able to muster 300,000 Wii sales during the last week.
On the portable side, Nintendo sold more than 500,000 hardware units, including 250,000 3DS and 275,000 DS devices.”
It’s common sense as well. NoA only deal with the American market, and Black Friday is only really a major thing in North America.
okay thanks
stills seems kind of hard to believe that the wii almost outsold the wii-u
It’s been a while since I heard Pachter talking positive about Nintendo.
he’s been doing that a lot lately
the strange happenings…it all started in september…
Why does this site care what Patcher says? He is anti-Nintendo. I want to know if Dead Space 3, Grand Theft Auto V, Tomb Raider, Anarchy Reigns, Bioshock Infinite, Metal Gear Rising Revengence, Castlevania Lord of Shadows 2, Resident Evil 6 & Revelations, Lost Planet 3, DMC are coming to Wii U?

I think that’s a good idea, since a lot of people still only have the wii. I’m pretty sure I won’t get lucky enough to get the Wii U, so Keeping the original Wii alive makes me happy… being a gamer that doesn’t get to play games a lot….
Bold claim.
Especially considering the PS2 was the top selling console well into the last generation.
Of course it isn’t dead. While the sales may have slacked off “because everyone who wanted one bought one, oh what a surprise?” Plenty of people still use it aside from the gamers who post on the internet which probably only make up about 4% of the total gamer population, and of those 4%, .005% of them actually own a Wii.
Then you get certain nifty comments from these people like “I only played my Wii for 20 minutes, and its collected dust ever since”. To which I reply are you an idiot? If you didn’t like it, and only felt compelled to play it 20 minutes. You could have taken it back to the store, and got your money back. The sad truth of the matter is that most of these people never owned a Wii, or are closet Wii lovers. Who are afraid to be banned from their group of “hardcore” armchair warriors.
I’m very surprised to hear that the original Wii is still selling so well. It must just be the trolls I keep hearing bashing the Wii.
