Director Rich Moore Wants Nintendo’s Mario In Wreck-It Ralph Sequel

Wreck-It_ralph_PosterRich Moore wants Nintendo’s no. 1 mascot, Mario, in the sequel to Disney’s Wreck-It Ralph. Moore is the director of Wreck-It Ralph, so this practically confirms that Mario will make an appearance in the film’s inevitable sequel – if Nintendo approves, of course. Moore is confident that he and his team will conceive a good role for the gaming icon.

“We’ll really come up with something good for Mario to do [in the next film]. To be able to present him in the sequel, would be great”.

    1. Actually, that would be a good idea. I want to see him on a poster saying, “My body is ready” like (similar) Sonic was in the movie.

  1. No offence, but Wreck-It Ralph is REALLY overrated. Besides a few gags and the setting itself, this is just a mediocre animation movie.

  2. Well, I guess this pretty much means Sequel, confirmed!
I haven’t seen Wreck-it Ralph though, so I don’t know if it was obvious from the first movie already… I really don’t understand why it has to come out in Europe five months later than in the US…

  3. I’d rather see a stand alone mario movie without wreck it ralph but keep the old school characters in something along the line of “who framed roger rabbit?”

  4. Is anyone else kind of pissed that Mario is basically the only Nintendo franchise that had representation in the film? No Zelda, no Metroid, no Pokemon, no Kirby, no anything. Other than the Mario series all there was was a NES controller.

    1. None of the other franchises are as immediately recognisable though. When you have Mario why do you need anyone else to represent your company?
Besides which, it’s not like the other companies got all that much recognition either.

    2. I’m not. The movie took place in the arcade world and it featured primarily arcade characters. I’m not too sure why Sonic and Robotnik were in the movie, but they were shooting for arcade games, and they got most of the popular ones in.

      1. Well, maybe the sequel can focus on console/PC games and Ralph’s evolution from arcade to home. That way, having non-arcade characters would make more sense. And about Sonic/Robotnik, there WERE arcade cabinet versions of Sonic 1 & 2 before, so I wasn’t too surprised.

      2. Sonic did appear in at least one arcade game. The one I’m most familliar with is Segasonic the hedgehog. I don’t know of the top of my head if that features robotnik, but I assume so.

        1. As far as I know, Robotnik was part of the plot at least.
Oh yeah, there was also Sonic the Fighters in terms of arcade games.

    3. Yup. Zelda would’ve been awesome. But, as Rohan said, they were aiming for arcade games. But the idea of taking Ralph to a home console is pretty awesome…that would open up a whole new world of possibilites…

  5. Well if they could get the rights to Bowser appearance, surely they can get the rights for Mario’s too. I’d like to see Young link and ganondorf from Ocarina of Time make an appearance too.
But having said that, I haven’t even seen the film yet; we in the UK are having to wait until the middle of February before we get to see it.

  6. I was really disappointed when the door bell rang and fix it Felix says “oh that probably is Mario” and answered the door and it was Ralph. But I really liked the movie.
(But I really wanted to see Mario.)

  7. This doesn’t confirm it. Nintendo has yet to let them USE him.. I wonder how much that will cost them… Nintendo are kinda greedy sometimes.

  8. Put Mario in Wreck-it Ralph and it’s free publicity for Nintendo. Nintendo fans be wise and see how easy and nice this is.

  9. We need a live action Metroid film. However:

The Americans, like Fox, ruined DBZ by releasing a shitty movie that is completely irrelevant to the storyline. Also, no offense, but the SMB 1993 movie has also receive negative reviews. Even Bob Hoskins himself (The actor who played Mario) hated the movie, because he didn’t realize that the movie was based off a video game. i do like the movie, though.

The Japanese needs to produce the Metroid movie. We all know they make the best technology, video games, anime, and food.

Also, did you know that they made a Ace Attorney movie?

    1. Emiliano Rodolfo Rosales-Birou

Best food? The Italians, German, Spanish, Indonesians, Thai, and French would like to have a word with you.

  10. You know…I’ve yet to see the movie, but shouldn’t Sora or SOMEONE from Kingdom Hearts have appeared in the movie? Hello? A Disney video game character in a Disney movie focused on the world of video games? They could at least put a character in the next movie (if a sequel is made).

  11. Hopefully if Mario appears in the sequel, Charles Martinet provides his voice as well. I don’t want to see a mute Mario, like he is in some games like Smash Bros. Brawl.

  12. Charles Martinet definitely will be the chosen one to do the voice of Mario in the movie, but just like many of the license characters in the movie, i don´t think Mario will have much dialog in the movie.

  14. Oh no, not another Disney sequel that’s just a cash cow. The film ended solid and finbe and has no need for a sequel.

    Then again, money is money…
