Mutant Mudds 2 Confirmed, Might Be Available In Physical Form On Nintendo 3DS

mutant_muddsDeveloper Renegade Kidd’s co-founder, Jools Watsham, has confirmed, via Twitter, that there will be a sequel to Mutant Mudds.

The original Mutant Mudds hit the Nintendo eShop on Nintendo 3DS in 2012, and a Wii U version of the platformer, titled Mutant Mudds Deluxe, will launch in the Nintendo eShop on Wii U later this year.

There is a chance that the forthcoming Mutant Mudds 2 will be available in physical form, as Watsham sent out a tweet that read, “RT if you would buy a Mutant Mudds 1 & 2 combo pack on cartridge for 3DS! :),” which has so far received over 60 retweets on the social networking service.

  1. Tiny Chocolate Finger

I really feel they’re milking this. In the space of a year, they’ve released the game, rereleased it, added a level pack, rereleased it again and have laid plans to rerelease it twice more and make a sequel which has already got a rerelease announced, despite the game not even being out yet. That’s two games, one year, five rereleases and one level pack. Yup, definitely milking it. Renegade Kid need to try something else.

    1. Not rereleasing. Ports. Completely different. If a little, talented indie developer like this can reach different audiences on other platformers, still offering each a quality experience, what’s wrong with that?

    2. no, they released it on the 3ds, ported it the pc, came out with a FREE level pack, and are now porting it to the wiiu and making the sequel. not milking, just putting it on other platforms dickhead.

      1. I’m fine with 40 as long as it’s as expansive as Super Mario 3D Land. If it’s short like the 1st one or something like Epic Mickey Power of Illusion short, then forget it.

          1. I 100%ed the game in 14 hours, probably can beat it in about half that as the side quests are revisiting levels. The game is like 14 levels, and 3 boss fight levels.

          2. It’s a pretty solid game, I liked the gameplay and parts were challenging, just disappointed how short the game was.

              1. I was discussing Epic Mickey Power of Illusion as someone said they wanted to download it. Or so I thought. Mudds took me much shorter than that, closer to 8 hours, and that’s 60 levels I beat. 14 hours for Epic Mickey Power of Illusion, which has 14 levels.

  2. This is nice, but I want Mutant Mudds 2 to be innovative in its own regard.

Instead of relying on what made Mutant Mudds 1 successful and piggy-backing on that success, the premise of the story should be kept simple and use the Nintendo 3DS/Wii U in new ways.

Personally, I would be delighted to see the game become a third-person, 3D action/adventure, platformer game. What I am trying to say is that it would be neat to see the folks at Renegade Kid challenge themselves with something that is not a carbon copy of the original, much like the folks at Gaijin Games did with Bit.Trip Runner 2.
