Nintendo president Satoru Iwata announced today that two new Pokemon games are coming exclusively to the Nintendo 3DS. The games are Pokemon X and Pokemon Y and will be launched in North America, Japan, Europe, and Australia, during October. You can watch the very first trailer for Pokemon X and Pokemon Y above.

They look fine, the forest in particular looks awesome. The only ones that look iffy is the one on the chasm with the buildin in the background. The first shot where hes walking down the path and you see the city in the background looks great, and the other where the girls running next to the river.

On RPG’s ike this , USualy the Overworld deliberately lacks detail , so they can make it bigger. Like In tales games.
Not always, Eternal Sonata looks Amazingly detailed. It all depends on the Developer and the limitations they have.

because the visuals actually effect the gameplay of a pokemon game in any way. in my opinion, the game looks great. pokemon was the first game i ever played, and i still love it to this day. but it still baffles me that you still regularly check up on news about things that you supposedly don’t like.
You also gotta keep in mind that most games that have been on the 3DS or even DS for that matter look a little bit better on the actual system than in trailer considering it’s upscaled…though not by a large amount. I was kinda hoping they’d put a 3d trailer on the eshop today to see how it looks in 3d

For 3ds the graphics look really good to be honest. Most 3ds game trailers I see seem more pixelated and not nearly as detailed. When the 3d is turned on it will probably be amazing

My original concern for them using 3D instead of 2D was because the 3D technology for the DS isn’t great compared to the 2D sprites. Now that the 3DS is able to make amazing 3D models of all the pokemon without making the designs extremely blocky, I welcome our new 3D overlords! (That, and I’m sure they don’t want to re-make all 600+/800+ new sprites for this game)

Having never played a Pokemon, how do you know which one to get? What’s the difference between X and Y?
Aside from new Pokemon and big change in visuals we dont know yet, but if youve never olayed one everything will be new
The two games don’t differ except for what pokemon can be caught. Story, artwork, gameplay, controls.. all of that is the same. One of the founding concepts of these dual games is to “catch ’em all” hence the two games with different kinds to capture and the trading between handhelds. That is ultimately how your experience can differ is how you play the game with all the different pokemon offered. I’ve played through the earlier games in the series so many times because there are loads of strategies and combinations so the gameplay is different every time.
Something not mentioned yet: In Black and White, aside from the exclusive Pokemon (especially the legendaries), there were exclusive areas. White got this forest place while black got some city. There isn’t info yet on the dif between X and Y, though, so they may have added more.

Yup they don’t have that same edge they use to. The artwork has gotten softer and more circular in design. This is why the older pokemon look stronger and overall better in my opinion although There are some exceptions

Who cares? It got boring really fast! Best Pokemon games go in the order of… Ruby/Sapphire, Diamond/Pearl, Red/Blue, Gold/Silver, LAST BUT NOT LEAST! This turned out to be a little overhyped. I think most people expected a 3DS game, but global launch? That doesn’t sound like big news to me. On a good note, the limited amount of actual gameplay looks very nice so congrats to those getting it!
I’m wary of purchasing a 3DS since I just got the Wii U, but if they offered all the games since GBA that includes generation 1 with the ability to trade online, I’d buy it with all the games including these two just introduced. I’m just not phased by it. Global is cool and all, but BIG news? Not in this day and age. Yes, it had significance for this franchise, but not as exciting as the gameplay footage. What I’d be upset over is not getting games translated and published into English e.g. so other people can enjoy them. Unfortunately for me, I don’t speak or understand Japanese nor have the money to dish out for two separate systems and libraries.
Well the BIG news was Gen VI. Global launch is something extra. Plus, global allows everyone to play at the same time. It’s like all the pokemon fans will be connected…
Also, if part of your frustration is spoilers, you could refrain from watching videos or avoid some reviews.

Yes the world and everything is 3D Models but it looks like you`re walking and traveling on a X & Y axis just like the other games. It still looks very exciting, taking a different approach to something like Pokemon . I dont have a problem with that just like to explain my thoughts a little bit. Perhaps they will make One for WIIU that will be “X” and will truly be a 3D. 3D in the sense like moving around like Mario in 64 or galaxy Not just on a left, Right, Up, Down. I know I can can wish!

Just think, this game is still over 8 months away. So it can only get better. They have all that time to fine-tune and polish the game. I’m happy that it doesn’t look like every other game. Pokemon has FINALLY evolved..
SOOOO Much better than Pokemon Rainbow! I love Fennekin!!! And typically I am not a fan of the fire starters! :O This one is just sooo cute! Also, that Deer Legendary looks Friggen amazing as hell… both the legendaries are awesome actually… wow! Looks like some good pokemon this time around!

i feel like this is about to blow gen5 out of the water. not saying that gen5 was terrible, there were some sweet ones from that, but it was kinda rushed, and onto a platform that’s been around for a while. im sure it’ll look better in actual 3D, and it’s already a huge jump from DS. as for the starters, they’re pretty cool for the most part. i’d like to see how they evolve, and at least the fire type doesnt look like it could be a fighting. cant wait for more news.
Eh, I feel that the only good looking part is the battle scenes. But as stated by a few others, graphics aren’t final. Hopefully when they finish the game, the graphics will be better.
It looks alright imo, will be better on screen in 3d but dat framerate was atrocious during the 3d traveling, got damn! It’ll get fixed its way too early to call, this clearly was to build hype and it worked like a charm, the internet like exploded for a minute there this morning haha

Will look better on the screen, in 3d, after 7 MORE MONTHS OF DEV. TIME. Not saying it will be drastic but it will definitely look better and they’ll smooth that horrible framerate out. Jesus that was stuttering all over the place in the scenes that weren’t battles and 3d would make it even worse! But man Iwata dropped the BOMB! 3ds sales in Japan are going to be RIDICULOUS!! Hell worldwide sales are going to jump!

Looks really appealing but I wish they would have done this whole 3D world earlier. It’s been wanted for so long and I think they waited too long. It would’ve been way better than Black and White, the “3D bullshit in that games was terrible. While I own a 3DS and am far more attracted to this than I was with D/P/Pt and B/W I think GameFreak has dug themselves into too big a hole with Black and White.

sorry to say this but i sold my 3ds because it just dosent fit the bill i mean what happen to the system is for everyone and type of gamer. i stopped playing pokemon when gameboy advance came out. where the fuck are the game nintendo promised from westerns where the fuck is the conduit 3ds news from high voltage screw 3ds then people wonder why android and ipad have more people playing them.

Pokemon X, Y and maybe Z may actually be refering to the fact that now everything is in 3D. The X, Y and Z axis.
Pokemon X is a land based pokemon on a horizontal plane, x axis, length.
Pokemon Y is a flying pokemon on a vertical plane, Y axis, depth.
So if pokemon Z exists, it probably will be a water pokemon in the sea, representing depth.
I hope it comes to the eshop so I can download it and have Pokemon ready to play whenever I want.
