Iwata Says More Unannounced Wii U Games To Come At End Of Year

yarn_yoshi_zoom

Nintendo president Satoru Iwata has revealed to investors in its Quarter 4 2012 report that the company still has more unannounced games to come by the end of the year for Wii U. Iwata obviously wouldn’t give any indication regarding what new games to expect, but it’s clearly good news for Wii U owners. We should probably hear about these new titles at E3 in June.

Q. What is the timeframe of the new software you were mentioning? What about the development structure?

Iwata : we are not thinking about a long timeframe. We are thinking about Mid year up to End of the year 2013. We also have games that are slated for end of the year that we havent mentioned yet.

    1. Just signed
We need all the support we can get
      Try going to vgchartz.com
Maybe there’s a lot of people that’ll sign there as well

    2. stop posting this…..personally…i dont even want this…by the time it arrives it will be a year late…i’d rather they focus on somthing built from the ground up

    3. Sign it, but to tell you the truth, I´m not excited about that game. I saw some gameplay videos and also tried a demo version, but felt that it is more of a shooter than an actual Metal Gear game like I was used to.

  1. Hopefully not just those of Mario games like last year for the 3DS as we had Mario & Sonic 2012, Mario Tennis Open, NSMB2 and PM: SS.
I hope we have either a Star Fox, Metroid, F-Zero or maybe even a Golden Sun game.

    1. 1. Oh my gosh, four totally different games that were released last year that share no gameplay elements, only the franchise name. What horror.
      2. We won’t see another 2D Mario a la NSMB for a while now. It’s gonna be something good.

    2. The only one I’m going to support is a new Paper Mario.

I want to see another Metroid, AND A DAMN KIRBY GAME, WE STILL HAVEN’T GOTTEN A KIRBY GAME FOR THE NINTENDO 3DS, DA FUCK NINTENDO? >:C

    3. Well it will happen, I mean i have a strong feeling there going to release a mario kart, it’s gonna happen it sold so many wii at the times I’m just hoping they won’t rush it…

      1. Oh no doubt, especially with the ps4 rumoured to being revealed and 720 sure after, developers are going to need to pull the lid on new games, and while i don think they’re all coming to WiiU, certainly some will.

  2. Most likely mario party 10 and possibly star fox. The big N has a good lineup in 2013. X will come out in Q4 2014 most likely.

    1. I’d much rather have a 3rd person Metroid. I thought Other M’s gameplay was interesting. A step in the right direction for Metroid. Too bad so much of that game was a mess.

      1. I respect your opinion but I 100% disagree. Other M was atrocious, from the gameplay to the voice-acting to the visuals. It was awful. Metroid Prime 1-3 were amazing games and I hope they make a 4th one.

        1. I agree other m had some issues such as its portrayal of Samus and being way to short of a game I loved the third person perspective and game play. I also think the cost tools were a little weird in other m but we shouldn’t have those issues on the wiiu

    1. If Okami HD comes out on Wii U ala Wind Waker HD, I would take back everything I said about Capcom being lazy! The fact is though…I have a gut feeling that it will never happen! Miracles do happen though…

      1. killer is dead, sudas games seem to do better on nintendo consoles for some reason, and since its kinda seems like no more heroes 3, guess i can buy it for another console, they dont even need to do anything with the gamepad

  3. I’m tired of of hearing wait. If Nitnendo was a resturant we would have all walked out by now. The Wii U is an empty shell of a console and considering Nintendo have been planning it for well over 3 years they’ve got no excuse for yet ANOTHER console with ANOTHER barren first year. It’s alright for everyone else but I only like Nintendo consoles, so if they ain’t making games I ain’t got anything to play and at 28, it makes me feel like it’s time to wave goodbye to my favorite past-time. Surely I can find another form of entertainment where there is year long gaps between the big events.

    1. Yeah, its not like they have smash bros, mario kart, wind waker hd, new zelda title, 3d mario, yarn yoshi and tons of other amazing games already out and coming out. Oh, wait. They do.

    2. If it’s anything like the 3DS, then I assume you “suddenly forgot” about how that had a slow start, but picked up gradually in games and entertainment? If not, then fine, give up hope so easily, meanwhile I and many others will be enjoying Fire Emblem Awakening and Pikmin 3 once they both come out for their respective systems. Be happy that you at least KNOW that those games and the ones announced at Nintendo’s recent Direct video are on their way instead of not knowing about them at all, because sooner or later, you’ll see them out, and you’ll think to yourself “Wow, for a 28 year-old who interests was only for nothing but Nintendo games and consoles, I should have CLEARLY known not to doubt Nintendo during their slow times.” Which makes me wonder if you really do only have interests in Nintendo consoles, or maybe it’s some kind of ruse to defend yourself like those users who ALWAYS start out with “Before anyone says anything, let me explain thoroughly on how much I supported/loved/believed/enjoyed Nintendo” or something along those lines.

And by the way, comparing a restaurant to a gaming company? Unless you can prove that food takes about a year or more to complete thoroughly by a team of over 100 to become what gets served, then your comparison is just starting to show the holes many could point out. There’s a lot more to making a game than making food (though I won’t pretend I know everything about making a game, but go on and ask someone who does and see if it’s as easy as cooking)…

    3. I’m the same age as you, bro, and I’m finding plenty to do on the Wii U.
In fact the only thing limiting my play time is my lack of funds for all the games I want on it.
It’s not barren, there’s just not much on it that interests you.
For many others, however, this summer and fall is going to have plenty of entertainment forthcoming on the Wii U.

      1. a lot of older people like Nintendo, where sony and Xbox have annoying fucking stupid kids playing call of duty, one i was younger my parents were bitching about playing a teen game, and when my younger sister was like 8,9 years old she was playing cod team fortress, feel like a lot of more mature people stick with Nintendo because thats what they grew up with, you should know now that nintendo was treating fans like shit during the wii or forgotten them with nothing to play

  4. You mean super Mario U, Mario kart U, Pikmin 3, Legend of Zelda Wind Waker HD bayonetta 2, minster hunter 3 ultimate, rayman legends, yoshi’s yarn land, Pokemon X n Y, fire emblem awakening. Luigi’s mansion 2, animal crossing, just arent enough and there’s more? Goddamn are they going full out. Ps4 has nothing on that.

  5. Awesome, they’re talking about the end of the year when the year just barely started. Nice. Although, to be fair, Resident Evil 6 was revealed in Jan 2012 to be released in Oct 2012, so I guess some measure of that stupidity is acceptable. Still, they’re off their gourd if they think one keystone title (Mario Bros U) and news about upcoming major titles (emphasis: upcoming) is enough to carry the Wii U right now. Buzz can only take you so far. We need something a bit more substantial for right now, something that is of course reflective of Nintendo.

  6. Damn, so Wii U games are around 50-60 bucks, and now they’re coming out with a new Super Mario 3D game, Super Smash Brothers for the Wii U AND 3DS (I’M GETTING BOTH), New Zelda game, Pokemon X and Y, Wii U Party, ETC…

THE DECREASING OF THE AMOUNT OF MONEY I HAVE IS ACCELERATING.

          1. I think that the game industry dosnt know we have also grow in game taste, that game 10 years ago would have not been even taller about but now we want those games.

            1. yea i can understand why some people hate on nintendo tho, feel like nintendo only thinks we care about there franchises now and they think thats good enough, its getting old, speciously for noa, reggie feeds us bull

    1. They should make a new IP with non-specific action figure. He basically became an overnight Nintendo cult icon. I have a sneaking suspicion he’ll make a return at this year’s E3

    2. I always had a feeling NSAF looked kinda like tabbu in brawl maybe he’s gonna be the lead antagonist in SMBU

  7. This has to be one the most exciting E3’s EVER for me. New Wii U games and the PS4. Hyped is an understatement at this point :)

  8. Well, I’m hoping it turns out a new Donkey Kong Country game is one of these mystery titles, that series so needs to get another trilogy thanks to Returns.

        1. If I recall they only said they wanted to take a break. I really want them to make at least one more Metroid game, that cliffhanger at the end of Prime 3 is killing me.

          1. On the Miiverse that they showed at E3 they have a donkey long and a Metroid game, there’s also a king boo and Mario Kart icon.

  12. I’m betting that the unannounced games are Retro’s game and Shigeru Miyamoto’s new IP. Hopefully they will be announced by E3. What would blow the pants off everyone is if Retro is working on Prime 4 for Wii U or Metroid Dread for 3DS, Miyamoto’s new IP isn’t some casual title for kids, Platinum Games’s Hideki Kamiya announces he is working on Star Fox, and Sega announces they are collaborating with Nintendo again to make F-Zero.

  14. Metroid Wii U!? :D Star Fox Wii U!? :D F-Zero Wii U!? :D Kirby Wii U!? :D Mother 4 Wii U!? :D Pokemon Game On Wii U!? :D Mario Party Wii U!? :D Super Princess Peach Wii U!? :D Donkey Kong Wii U!? :D Kid Icarus Wii U!? :D Sin and Punishment Wii U!? :D Animal Crossing Wii U!? :D -I can’t think of any others at the moment, but I am hoping at least ONE of the titles I mentioned is one of the ones they have planned for the end of this year. Metroid would be my #1 pick, but it could be anything really! :D
