Alex Ward, Criterion Games Vice President, has once again explained just how excited he is about Nintendo’s latest console, Wii U. Ward says that future Need for Speed titles should be released simultaneously on Wii U along with the other platforms now that the developers are more acquainted with the hardware. He concluded the interview by saying that the Wii U has got him back into Nintendo platforms.
“We’ll see how the online audience on the Wii U is going to develop. I think for a lot of consumers out of the box, it’ll be that around-the-TV experience that Nintendo tends to do very, very well.”
Future iterations of Need for Speed on Wii U should see a same-day release as the other consoles, Ward told me, since the studio now knows the hardware. “Fantastic hardware [the Wii U], I love it. It really got me back into Nintendo software.

From what I’ve seen so far, PS4 looks like the vastly superior hardware. But Wii U will always have the best exclusives.
I don’t think “vast” is a good word for it. Yeah, it will be more powerful. Probably even a lot more powerful. But the graphics on the Wii U are about to get a lot more advanced once the developers get accustomed to it. So the difference won’t be vast; it’ll be like playing a PC on hi-res and low-res. Same game, just a little bit better.

Not really, Played what I wanted last gen, no need to go back. Haven’t missed out on anything. I’m not mad at all, with what is being shown on the PS4, it will be my first choice of consoles this gen. Miiverse is about as user friendly as facebook, but I have more fun on facebook.
Maybe he already has a PS3. Also, as great as Miiverse is, Sony’s social network looks much more user friendly and accessible than it.

It’s live right now. The controller was as rumored just recently with the little motion bar and a button to share stuff online like Nintendo’s miiverse. One of the funniest things just a few minutes ago, a developer said next gen isn’t about hardware. I’m still laughing about that.

Cool, new, and sleek social interface integrated with facebook, New “dualshock 4” controller with touchpad at the top (ugly). New Killzone game announced, and can play its games on the Vita. Nothing very “wowing” but i really like the social interface. Netflix, etc. will be coming to it.
I’m not so impressed with some games that have been announced, though Killzone has promise. The graphics aren’t ahead of what we currently have either, but a great start for the generation no doubt. I didn’t catch to see a price, hardware specs or launch games yet, however I haven’t seen the whole presentation. Obviously it will be covered more in depth at E3.
Yeah, well I felt like Nintendo made a gigantic jump from the Wii to the Wii U but Sony…I don’t know what to say. I guess I’m glad to see the PS4 announced, but I’m not afraid to say that I am a little dissapointed. They made a new controller, added the vita into the mix, some games, but nothing “big”. And about the graphics, they really aren’t ahead of this gen, like you said. I was just expecting more I guess.
Honestly, I wasn’t. I’m happy they chose to take a risk with the new controller and their more customizable social network looks good. The best feature in my opinion has to be the ability to edit the videos you share. Fortunately for us, the miiverse is constantly being upgraded.
The games aren’t leaps and bounds beyond current and really will come down to the individual to buy them. The hardware specs don’t seem to be far beyond the Wii U which is what I expected. Yes, they seemed to have gotten more support than Nintendo, but I think this generation Nintendo will get a lot more major ports given this announcement.
Price will probably be the biggest selling point for PS4. In today’s market, you think they could get away with what Nintendo did on a limited library and even higher price, especially in the UK? I highly doubt it.
Exactly. Love the freedom, and customization of the social interface. But they should have done more. I also feel like the price will be what sells it, and the whole vita thing will certainly get people excited. I just hope Nintendo was watching and that they know what’s coming.

I’m actually really impressed with the PS4, yeah there is a BIG graphical leap, Capcoms game looked fucking nuts, but they revised the controller, made the best online service, downloads while the console is off as well as play as you download, live stream, co-op live stream, party chat, they really did out do themselves.
I worry about the price, but in all honest, unless i can afford both a WiiU and PS4 this year…i’m picking PS4.
Nintendo need to stop fucking about and just tell us about the “tons” of secret games they have..

The presentation yes, but the console…no. I mean I am looking forward to getting it, but there wasn’t that certain “spark” that the Wii U had to me. To be honest it’s got to be the controller, it’s a bad move, but I like everything else with the exception of a few games.

Some of that new tech was very uncanny-valley for me. They said it looked realistic and human when they showed that old man.

i actually agree. I feel like Nintendo needs to step it up now. The ps4 is seeing a lot of support. According to developers its an ease to develop for. I still think a lot of companies could end up financially ruined by supporting the next gen so heavily, without including Nintendo.
But it certainly looks like that 3rd parties are gonna pass up on nintendo again. The level of praise and support being presented at the conference is by far exceeding what was shown for the wiiu.
Nintendo needs to do more to instill confidence in those who bought the wiiu that they bought a quality machine that will have a strong library.
i wasnt expecting to be impressed with the sony presentation. But i was pretty blown away. Ideas like uploading video of your gameplay sessions or a game that lets you create 3d models and environments and bring them to life are all things i would have expected from nintendo, instead sony came with it.
i figured i would need a second system…i currently have a wiiu…but now i know im getting one at some point for sure.

i do agree that there was some funky stuff going on with some of the demos….i also dont remember any talk about what resolution these games were outputting….either way…the capcom game looked impressive…as did the square tech demo…i dont entirely believe that the square or Unreal 4 demo’s were running in realtime…
