Shigeru Miyamoto Makes His Miiverse Debut

miyamoto_luigi_new_yorkNintendo of America has announced, via Twitter, that Shigeru Miyamoto made his Miiverse debut. On his first Miiverse post, the Nintendo designer and producer declared 2013 to be the Year of Luigi. Miyamoto isn’t the only big shot who’s recently joined Nintendo’s social network, as, a couple days ago, company president Satoru Iwata posted his first message on Miiverse. While it is only accessible on Wii U, Miiverse will eventually arrive on other platforms, including smartphones, PC and Nintendo 3DS.

Here’s what Miyamoto said in his first Miiverse post:

It’s been a whole 30 years since Luigi’s debut in Mario Bros.!

Thanks to Luigi’s fans within Nintendo and all over the world, we have created many games starring Luigi.

I hereby declare 2013 to be the Year of Luigi!

  1. The Year of Luigi got a great start with Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon!
It’s an awesome sequel, and I can’t wait to see what else they have in store for everyone’s favorite green Italian brother.

      1. Oh, definitely! I still own Bowser’s Inside Story, and I’ve previously owned the other entries in the series.
I’m really curious about what Dream Team’s story is going to be like, but since much of it is taking place inside Luigi’s head, where he’s a really cool hero and stuff, I think it’s going to be HILARIOUS.XD

      1. I Have Read And Agree To The Terms Of Service

        Weegee rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!l!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  2. Luigi’s* Plus, I don’t get why they make such a fuss over a bunch of colors and pixels bunched up together to simulate an image that can relate to humans around the world. This is an outrage. I love their games and all, but year of luigi is just pointless. it’s like someone making year of the paper towel. it’s never mentioned, but it’s still a necessity many oversee. Also, I think we should focus on expecting more games from nintendo. I don’t want a damn ‘release window’ f*/@% I want a sure date. what if I waste my money just after they release ssb. I hope they have a huge e3 event that will make the ps4 and next box look like they just announced a bug fix. Also, whoever thinks graphics are the most important thing in games, kindly disappear from Earth. neutron, your an a**hole, but the people here who pay attention to you are just the same. so the only to blame is them. the only enthusiast I see here is nintendward. I love MNN and the commentators are seriously ruining this site.

    1. They give a window because the date can be pushed back if they can’t make it by that date: see Rayman Legends debacle. Dates come in quarters, the next Wii U or 3DS Direct will give the Q2 dates, if not then their official press release will next month.

  3. everyone quick question. how good lugi’s mansion 2? i am curious i want to get it but i want to see hpw much content those the game have. is it better the mario 3d land?

    1. It’s world’s better than Mario 3D Land.
The puzzles are interesting, the comedy overflows, there’s even a bit more challenge this time around.
I haven’t played the multiplayer yet, but I can only imagine that it’s good too.

      1. Well, I’m sure it’s great, but I quite liked Super Mario 3D Land. I don’t think it’s fair to compare the two. Different genres completely.

Anyway, excited for Deus Ex on WiiU! A little disappointed that WiiU wasn’t on the MGS5 trailer at GDC, but that MGS thread in the dev section of Miiverse gives me hope :P

  4. I love Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon, and I’m sure I’ll love Mario and Luigi: Dream Team. I just wish that he starred in a couple of more games. What I really want to see is him having a big role in 3D Mario Wii U, and Paper Luigi U.

  5. I got Luigi’s Mansion for 3DS. I like the puzzles and level structure. The multiplayer is really fun.

Luigi is my favorite character in the Mario series. :)

I bet they are going to do a Luigi contest when Flipnote Studio 3D comes out.
