Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon continues to be the best-selling game in Japan for the third time running. This week the game sold 68,423 units and has sold a total of 459,000 units since going on sale on March 20th. Animal Crossing: New Leaf is currently sitting in second place and has shifted over three million physical copies in total in Japan. Here’s the Japanese software and hardware charts.

Dragon Quest 10 didn’t do too well in Japan. That being said , it’s not hard to understand why. Everyone who wanted to play it already played it on Wii. They’re not going to play it again just because it’s on Wiiu. Monster Hunter Ultimate was as Capcom described it ”a smash hit” on Wiiu in japan. Because people at least had some proper incentive to buy it.

Dragon quest 10 is the number one selling game on the eshop in japan.
The reason Dragon Quest didn’t do well was because Dragon Quest on the 3DS came out in Feb in Japan and sold 1.2 million units. Plus you can already get the game on Wii. Square Enix mismanaged their Dragon Quest releases, and flooded the market. Not to mention, Japanese players are big on MMOs

SE has been fucking up left and right, and adding a subscription fee to a console game is a Huge NO. I’m glad SE is under new management, yoichi wada was ass.
The Wii version did fine. It sold 700K on an installed base of 12 million Japanese Wii’s at the time. Do the math that’s a healthy attache ratio. Square enix were crying because it didn’t sell as much as Monster hunter does.
700k units sold, that doesn’t mean all 700k are still subscribed. SE has Servers to maintain, and if they can’t get subscribers they loose money, this isn’t a normal release, it takes more than just units sold.
SE is on its way to flop, and honestly, I’m happy their shitty decisions are finaly noticeable.
I really hope the animal crossing xl comes out worldwide and its an easy pick up because that pikachu xl was madness to find.

Wii U sitting pretty, jostled for pole position, now in Third place. Number one in home consoles if you can clearly observe. The Wii U is waiting on a ten word titled rpg to take second or first spot. Some of those Japanese games I tell you lol.
xbox360 really hahahahahahaha at least the Japanese in a majority sense will not pay for online that they can get for free on the Wii U, PS3, 3DS and PSvita.

So far it sold over 3 million just in Japan, if you really wanna compare it outsold the wiiu :] but of course it’s irrational xD
To note, the 3DS is selling well world wide, even other big markets like France, the world’s fifth super nuke power. Wii U game Lego city undercover is sitting at number 7 and 8 in Europe. Monster hunter will bump up again as soon as nintendo and Capcom wake up and restock the shelves :).
I’m not surprised. The 3DS has alot of games worth getting and more to come.

But yeah, its a fun game, its got its annoying parts, and the way that the levels are broken into parts is just stupid, and you never get to explore properly, and you have to wander around the same corridors and rooms multiple times on each stage, just to get a 3 star rank and all the boos, but yeah, still fun
