Yakuza Bundle Announced For Japan, Coming To Wii U

The Japanese Nintendo Direct has revealed today that the previous PlayStation exclusive Yakuza is now coming to the Wii U. The open-world crime game will come as a bundle, featuring the first and second titles in a special HD collector’s edition.

The trailer, shown during the stream, displayed refined graphics, as well as a number of exclusive aspects you can expect to see within the Wii U version. Players can keep an eye on their character’s status while exploring the open-world streets through the Wii U GamePad. Yakuza 1 and 2 will be released in Japan August 8 – it’s not yet known whether the title will come to North America or Europe.

    1. Yakuza 1 and 2 – PS2
      Yakuza 3, 4, 5 – PS3
      Yakuza Dead Souls – PS3
      Yakuza Kenzan – PS3
(Yakuza) Black Panther: Like a Dragon New Chapter – PSP

      Yakuza 1 and 2 HD – PS3 (and now Wii U)

  1. I’m wondering if this is why we haven’t heard of a Yakuza 5 localization for North America yet; maybe it’s coming to the Wii U as well.

I would be down with that depending on how they use the gamepad. I love the series.

    1. I find funny that the sonic exclusive deal and this are considered small anouncements by some jurnalist and haters lol.

      1. This is a pretty big deal. It wont happen immediately, but if things keep progressing like this, I could definitely see Nintendo buying out SEGA in the future.

        1. People who said that third partys dont trive in Nintendo consoles dont know history. Acclaim and midway became big making Nintendo exclusives and arcade versions of Nintendo games. Thq made also exclusive games during the n64 years and it became huge with Nintendo fans buying there games and now all those companys dont exsist makes me wonder if the third party dont make money on Nintendo consoles is just fault play publisity.

  2. So, a sand box game very much like GTA? well hope te 3 and 4 come to the Wii U as a bundle as well

  3. Please come to the West. It looks like Nintendo and Sega have a new partnership.
I would love it if Sonic became Exclusive to Nintendo, permanently xD.

I’ll have a glass of Nintendo haters tears , thx.

          1. Same. Not really interested in it at all. The best thing they brag about is a PS2 remake/port.

Untill GT , GTA , MGS , Killzone and more arrive i’m not buying one.

  4. The bond between Nintendo and Sega is extremely strong already. First, a Sonic Lost World exclusively to both the U and 3DS. Now it’s Yakuza (in Japan at the moment).

    1. yes and now imagine if shenmue 1 and 2 was remade on wii-u in hd and with game pad support, i freaking love the shenmue series, and then imagine Nintendo bankroll yu Suzuki and license from sega to let yu suzuki make shenmue 3 as a wii-u exclusive, and then a trilogy box set is released, with all 3 shenmue games, that would be a great idea for Nintendo, there are still allot of old school Sega fans out there, an if Nintendo signed a exclusivity contract with sega to some how get all of Sega’s games on wii-u only, for instance a new virtua fighter, or better yet, a new fighters megamix u, with all of Sega’s fighting games mashed into one, fighting vipers an the vf series, that would be awesome! what about a new streets of rage? or shinobi? or virtua soccer? how about Sega rally, daytona and panzer dragoon? and a new after burner, space harrier, Sega has such a rich diverse selection of i.p’s, Nintendo and Sega collaborating on bringing all these games into the current day would be epic, and would guarantee a hell of allot of wii-u sales, since all the sega fan-boys would have to get a wii-u to play all their favorite games! one can dream, cant i? sega and Nintendo together would be one hell of a force to be reckoned with! and this way Nintendo could get more mature and perceived as cool games and franchises onto the wii-u, to fill those long development gaps Nintendo has between making games!

  5. Nintendo is smart, next week on the 21st Microsoft unveils it’s xbox infinity. You don’t lay out all you cards. You play slots at a time like this to keep your competition from copying or upending you.

  6. I have stated before, by virtue of cultural marriage SEGA is betrothed to Nintendo. More gaming is about to be revealed. As soon as the Microsoft press conference subsides the floodgates in Kyoto shall be opened. Those wise have foreseen this. jtz, vernonjamaica, Nintedward, simply G. Even Jelly Bean. Am awaiting what the commander and the ever boisterous N-dub nation plus dragon369 have to comment on the former.

    1. They’ve already announced a worldwide partnership for the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise, so I would take that as a sign that bonds between them are getting tighter.

  7. God I hope this comes over state side we really need more mature titles. I definitely would pick this up. Anybody know what’s up with Deus Ex, my money is ready! :)

        1. Yeah, that news kind of went under the radar. Square-Enix/Eidos Montreal said this some time back. It was either in a press release, video, or in a conversation I was having with someone from Square Enix. I’ll see if I can find the source.

        2. Alright, found it. It was a press release from Square-Enix which said,

“Coming in 2014, the Director’s Cut features include visual improvements, overhauled boss fights, reinforced combat mechanics and much more making it the ultimate HUMAN REVOLUTION experience.”

But then I read another press release that said,

“Deus Ex: Human Revolution – Director’s Cut is coming to the Nintendo Wii U later this year.”

So I’m not sure which one it is. Maybe they’ll say during E3.

      1. Thanks for the info. Hope they push it up. And love the Rocket Raccon avatar. You reading the new comic, it’s dope.

        1. No problem; and yeah, I’m reading the new Guardians of the Galaxy (you’re seemingly the first person to recognize the character from my avatar. =p) .

I like it. Although, I’m afraid that Marvel has been spreading Bendis thin. I hope his stories don’t begin to suffer because of it.

        2. I have to correct my last statement about Deus Ex. It may or may not be coming in 2014. I got two conflicting press releases from Square Enix. I guess we’ll have to wait for the official release date.

          One said,

“Coming in 2014, the Director’s Cut features include visual improvements, overhauled boss fights, reinforced combat mechanics and much more making it the ultimate HUMAN REVOLUTION experience.”

But then I read another press release that said,

“Deus Ex: Human Revolution – Director’s Cut is coming to the Nintendo Wii U later this year.”

  8. What’s crazy is we have not come close to everything Nintendo has planned and this alone satisfied me without seeing 3D Mario’s Zelda SSB4, Mario Kart U, Retro Studios game, Zelda Remake and New Zelda. We have not even come to the core of all Wii U’s upcoming games as well as Raymond Legends. And now a new Sonic Adventure game with Nintendo as a partner!!! I can’t afford all these games right now. Games are just pouring!

    1. Yeah. ;/

      I was really hoping for a localization for this and Yakuza 5 but still no word. D;

If that happens, we’ll probably have to wait even longer for them to localize both the PS3 and Wii U versions.

  9. I hope Nintendo and sega becomes partners, not even sony and microsoft could compete with the original gaming companies. (even though sega did stop making consoles)

    1. thats exactly that should happen nintendo and sega. maybe sega getting back up and bringing great games back and making awesome games again. that would make nintendo not a joke to mess with anymore.

  10. I hope this gets localized I love sega and I’m starting to think the wii u is going to be my favorite console this generation, this is gonna be sweet

  12. Poor Wii U, doesnt look good, just getting old games, remakes and rehashed releases. Now the should get Getaway 3 released on the Wii U instead.

  16. I’ve played Yakuza 3 for the PS3 and I love this game. Sega you need to listen to the American/European Sega fans, to release Yakuza 1 and 2 HD Bundle for the Wii U in the West other than Japan. OK?
