Australia is getting Nintendo’s budget series of Wii games, Nintendo Selects, a full two years after they were released in North America. Despite the fact that the games retail for only $19.99 in the States, regularly-priced Wii games typically sell for $89-$99 Down Under, meaning that these “budget” Selects titles will still be priced at a rather high $49.95. The list of games to be sold under the Nintendo Selects brand in Australia will include Mario Kart Wii, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Super Mario Galaxy, Zelda: Twilight Princess, and Wii Sports + Sports Resort, both on one disc. They will join a few additional titles recently announced in Europe for the series. Nintendo Selects titles will all be available in Australia beginning November 7th.
First
I can save you.
I haven’t been able to find Wii Sports resort on it’s own..i already own wii sports original, i don’t want it again.
The double pack actually has both on 1 disc so you could just buy the double pack then trade in the standalone Wii Sports.
Having always purchased games here is Australia, it seems strange to me that one can get a Wii game for only $20 in The US
*in Australia
Really, you just need to know where to look in order to find cheap games. I’ve only ever purchased Wii games for $100 at launch, and JB Hi-Fi always cuts their new releases under the RRP- I haven’t seen a new game there for more than $80! Sure, we still pay about %30 more than Americans, though even that is kind of annoying…
Yeah us Americans with our cheaper prices and even lower wages. How dare we! Stop complaining, gaming is a hobby, if you cant afford it then you shouldnt do it.
If you want to find cheap games, buy online. Theres a website http://www.ozgameshop.com and they sell new releases for $40 – $60 (some games are $60 – $70, but that like rarely). I buy all my games from there and have save so much money. the only downside is the waiting (4 – 12 days)
I feel sad for australia when budget price is 50$ lol. Consoles and games cost there 2-3 times more
We’re lucky though in that our wages are about double. Australians were whinging about the $150 price different on the PS4 but at least we can buy it on one paycheck, not two.
Crikey……………
That’s ridiculous!
this is fucking bullshit!! a wii game for 50$!? thats a crime!!
They earn a lot more than Americans
that is true, but they will still fucking bitch. they make like 3 times as much as our minimum wage i think. yeah ill take hi game prices any day.
If you knew what you were talking about you would realise that according to the rationale that “they pay more because they get paid more” would actually mean that it would even out when comparing the US and Australia….However, we are bitching because that is not the reason why the price of games/the price of anything is so high her in Oz. Its competition that drives prices. I bought Pokemon X for $20 cheaper at Target than what they were selling it for at EB games.
P.S Australians also don’t get tipped.
Shouldn’t AUS be able to use the UK e-shop? Isn’t EU and AUS under the same region lock?
That’s why I import from the UK.

Hmmm funny I saw a wii system + mario kart bundle + wheel for $99 AUD yesterday. Come on nintendo!
Reblogged this on Curiosidades na internet.
No Galaxy 2? :(
I would like to know how much money somebody makes hourly there. or even in a month. I make about $1100 monthly (shitty but easy job). How much a month does an aus make?
I make around $22 an hour in an office job (no qualifications req), and I do about 45 hours a week including lunch breaks.
Yeah I do about the same….except at 10 an hour plus benefits. So I see that’s why games are 120 instead of 60. Makes since but damn or seems like so much.
That seems like a pretty standard office job in terms of hours and pay for the US. It seems like you guys get the short end of the stick from my perspective :/
In the end they can only sell them for how much people are willing to pay for them.
Australia keeping it rough. I can’t imagine paying for a wii or any other last gen game for that much. best go the secondhand route.
Don´t complain, my aussie friends… in Brazil, the Nintendo select games cost average USD $ 40 (BRL $ 80), while new games cost between USD $70 – 90
i get $30/hr in a warehouse packing fruit and veg.
Must be a hellava nice place to live
so glad I pirated the fuck out of all my Wii games
Poor australian fellas getting so screwed with video games…
next atari and colecovision return, re-release thyere games, nintendonts thinks its the greatest thing ever, overpriced, old, old, shit.
god forgives you.
