Ubisoft Is Projecting 10 Million Copies Sold For Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag

Assassin-s-Creed-Black-Flag

Apparently Ubisoft revealed even more in yesterday’s conference call than originally believed. It has come to light that the company is projecting sales of 10 million copies for its latest Assassin’s Creed installment, Black Flag. With these numbers, the company is actually forecasting a decrease for the Assassin’s Creed series, as Assassin’s Creed 3 raked in a total of 12.5 million copies sold in its first six months. Yesterday, Ubisoft also announced that Rayman Legends and Splinter Cell: Blacklist did not perform in accordance with expectations, so perhaps the latest Assassin’s Creed projections are taking into account Ubisoft’s ailing overall sales figures. Here is a quote from CEO Yves Guillemot about the newest Assassin’s Creed game:

“We expect Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag to be a highly-rated game. Previews have been very positive and the title will again be among the highest performers of the year. We are very confident with the performance of Assassin’s Creed 4 and the numbers we have in our model, it is going to be key for the launch of the new consoles this Christmas.”

  1. I wonder why Assassin’s Creed sells so well, better than most Zelda titles these days. Is it because it’s multi-platform and thus is available to a larger audience? Because the Zelda franchise has always been superior to the Assassin’s Creed franchise and has been around longer, so Zelda should technically sell better.

    1. Only the 3rd Assasin’s Creed sold really very very well. Well one of reasons is probably because its multi-platform, also no zelda game looks more beautiful than latest AC games, AC looks more mature.. also I might say that as constant sequels they make it extremely well..

      1. I wouldn’t use the word beautiful, Zelda on Wii looks wonderful with their art style alone, give them a powerful hardware like the one AC (PS3-PS4) uses and i’m 100% sure Zelda would kick its ass. When Zelda Wii U arrives, you’ll see.

    1. How so? 10 million sales certainly isn’t a bad number, and Ubisoft as a company is enjoying a (roughly) 1.5 billion dollar profit this year. Just because a game sells less than its predecessors does not necessarily mean that this might be trouble.

  2. well your not going to achieve that on wii u. just wait for the incoming months.

“ASSASSINS CREED BLACK FLAG SOLD LESS THAN 2% ON WII U”

  3. What will matter is how many copies on Wii U sell compared to the other new consoles. I will be interested to see. PS3 and 360 are sure to make up a great deal of it’s total sells. PS4 and Xbone however, have ??? install base. The Wii U has a one year head start and can potentially do well again this holiday season. I’m kind of expecting the sells on all the next gen consoles to be roughly low and similar. If so, it should be obvious that any Developer hesitant to put a game on the Wii U may as well be the same for the other next gens.
Oh well, as it stands already I’m not gonna have enough money to get all the games I want coming out this year for my Wii U. Can’t believe I’m actually glad DK was delayed.

  4. Well i hope they change there mind now, to bring the dlc out for Wii u plz.
I preorderd the special edition for Wii U. So plz bring the dlc out!!!!!!

  5. GL Ubi. Don’t expect high sales from the Wii U version, though, since you aren’t delivering the DLC.
And if you bitch about the low sales, so help me God I will chew your ass out until you block me on every site you pay attention to.
Then I’ll make a legion of alts just to drive the point home.

    1. Even if Wii U version had DLC rip off I wouldn’t buy it. It is just a way to rip you off. Why not put it in the game during development? That’s stupid. What will I get extra more guns?

      1. Generally AC DLC includes extra missions with their own plot. And the whole thing about DLC is that the vast majority of it is made after the game is finalized and sent off to be printed on to discs and such.

  6. I wish Ubisoft the best of luck. Hopefully Wii U owners won’t be as butt hurt over AC4 and will do better than AC3’s sales on Wii U. It’s not likely but I can certaintly wish right?

      1. What do you think I have been doing? I own Assassin’s Creed III, Batman Arkham City: Armored Edtion, Darksiders II, Injustice:Gods Among Us, ZombiU, Call of Duty: Black Ops II, Ninja Gaiden 3 Razor’s Edge, Splinter Cell Blacklist, Rayman Legends, The Wonderful 101 (since it’s made by Platinum I consider it third party), Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, and a bunch of indie titles. I have Sonic Lost World, Assassin’s Creed IV, Watch_Dogs, Call of Duty: Ghosts, and Batman Arkham Origins all on pre-order. What more could you want from me?

        1. I don’t buy that many (haven’t bought cod nor batman) but I have lots of third party games on my Wii U. The 3DS is a different story, where I have only 1st party games.

        2. I have Batman, Darksiders, AC3, Sonic Racin, NFSU, MH3U, Tekken 2, Blops 2, and a slew of indie titles downloaded. My support for the Wii U is also quite strong. The system hasn’t had many games so far, but it launched with a lot of good ones. I will probably buy about 3 more Wii U titles this year as well.

    1. Actually Nintendo fans/hypocrites need to start buying some games..

They constantly bitch about wanting new IPs and 3rd party support, they need to put their money where their mouths are..

Wonderful 101, Sonic Lost World and Rayman Legends are all available, there’s no excuses.

  7. “No DLC”, to many seems to translate as “gimped port”, but looking at Ubisoft’s track record it probably will be regardless,

I find it amusing when fanboys defend Ubisoft under the premise that just releasing titles for the system constitutes as actual “support” that Wii U owner should be thankful for…

    1. I have AC3 on my Wii U. I don’t play it much. It’s not fun. I only bought it because the graphics looked good and I thought the GamePlay would be great. I was wrong. Its just a beautiful looking game like AC4.

      1. Peanut Butter Kit Kat

There’s only Rayman Legends that’s worth buying and Ubisoft shot themselves in the foot by delaying it.. Well done lads!

    2. Then what is “support”? Are you asking for an exclusive? Because there is no reason they’d do that, they’d be shooting themselves in the foot by not releasing a game for multiple consoles.

      1. Peanut Butter Kit Kat

Rayman Legends actually sold more on the Wii U than PS3 and 360, without the delay it would have sold a lot more than when they did finally release it. Wii U owners were looking for excuses to buy Wii U games in Feb, not so much in September.

“Support”, isn’t just releasing titles on a system, look at the majority of 3rd party “support” on the Wii U, it’s doing way more harm than good.

People see things like “missing features” and “no DLC” and automatically think “gimped” port” and in most cases they have been, yet you still get people who praise Ubisoft for doing this.

  8. Well Assassin’s Creed III Sold more that 10 M in all 4 platforms and this game look it will be better than 3, so, I think they may got those number again

  9. Do they mean 10 million PERIOD, or 10 million at launch? Cause no way it sells more then Pokémon X and Y or Monster Hunter 4 at launch lol.
