Nintendo of America have just posted a job listing for an IT architect which comes shortly after the unfortunate eShop outage that hit Nintendo fans over the Christmas period. The new IT job position with Nintendo of America includes plenty of core duties including providing support and troubleshooting of prior developed technology solutions. Here’s the job description.
- Researches and assesses advanced approaches to designing technology systems and applies to current business context.
- Defines standards and design parameters for technology areas or projects, and reviews adherence to standards and principles as required.
- Designs and develops frameworks for technologies, and detailed implementations when required.
- Provides technical oversight for engineering and operations activities.
- Optimizes systems design across technology areas for future flexibility, performance, multi-tier behaviors, capacity, and scalability.
- May supervise the activities of others.
- Provides support and troubleshooting of prior developed technology solutions.
- Ensures work is completed in such a way to comply with established compliance and other internal control requirements.

God Nintendo, I love you but how un-prepared are you for HD gaming? I think they did learn from the 3ds however I think they should learn more from the Wii U. There is so much more that is now “standard” in gaming now and the higher ups need to realize that. I think we should give Iwata ONE more chance with a handheld and a home console and after that I feel its time for new talent at nintendo

No, it really isn’t. Online gaming existed long before HD gaming existed.
In short:
HD gaming = Gaming with HD graphics. This has only really been mainstream in a sense since the 7th Generation (not including PC gaming).
Online gaming = Games that use the internet or another network of sorts to further enhance the experience. Consoles as far back as the Intellivision (PlayCable) and Atari 2600 (GameLine) had this, as did the Famicom, Super Famicom, Sega Megadrive, Saturn and Dreamcast, long before XBOX Live was established (and that’s not including PC gaming via LAN or internet).
Ofcourse it isn’t I am just saying its just part of the package that came with HD gaming, there are a lot of things that came with HD gaming that didn’t affect HD graphics.
It didn’t hit the mainstream until HD gaming came along, the Xbox started that revolution and those other consoles did have them but they weren’t a big part of them.

thats just it, nintendo isn’t threatened or suffering, its that they’re not prepared if so, they would have everything they announced this year out by now on specific dates. but they are trying too hard, they need to focus on 3 or 4 projects at a time. and they need to quickly get the nintendo ID network a server of its own and add a account system with it. when the ID came out a lot of people suddenly lost they ID’s, and everything with it, so it was no good from the start, the e-shop needs a new update, it wasn’t functioning when it first came out, and still isn’t even after upgrading it, they need to sit down and start planning things in stead of getting excited and tell others whats coming out and failing to do so.
I agree, I don’t think they are suffering or anything but that they were very un-prepared with the generations they skipped ahead. They are learning now rather than they did with the Wii.
