Nintendo UK has launched a new YouTube channel focusing on content specifically for girls. Hosted by Hollyoaks actress and Dancing On Ice star Jorgie Porter, Nintendo Girls Club will feature original videos, news and gossip from the world of Nintendo.

I don’t get what the stereotypical part is? Girls would be into that more than they would mario or starfox. It’s obviously targeting little girls and this works. People should stop acting like guys and girls are the same because they are not. There’s a reason singers like justin bieber and lady gagger are famous, and it’s not because of guys.

I’m torn. On the one hand, it’s a bit divisive and lends itself to stereotyping. But on the other, Nintendo is clearly saying that they welcome girls, a message that’s muffled at best from the competition. We’ll see how it works out.
I only hope they feature games that are not gender-specific and introduce girls to games they wouldn’t necessarily think of purchasing.

Ehh. Kind of unnecessary to have a channel like this. I’m sure female Nintendo fans enjoy Starfox, Metroid, Zelda, and Smash Bros. as much as the males. This channel seems stereotypical and close-minded.
I really don’t like that. Nintendo can speak to everyone without having to go this way. That’s too stereotypical and sexist to be a nice way to advertise games.

You know, I was thinking about subscribing, just to see more Nintendo videos, and as a heterosexual male, videos with more women isn’t going to stop me. On the other hand, I watched that sample video in the post, and the presentation was somewhat painful to me. Perhaps I’ll steer clear after all.
if people are offended by this, they just choose to be offended. I don’t see a problem with having a channel to focus on the women gamers. However, I still am a bit disappointed because I don’t think Nintendo got together a focus group of female gamers to ask what they would want to have in a channel like this.
If you don’t like it, then don’t play it. Just because some girls want to be tomboys doesn’t mean you should take away pink toys and girly games from the feminine girls. This is for GIRLY GIRLS.
