Here’s More Details Of Hyrule Warrior Legends From Famitsu

The latest issue of Famitsu features an interview with the producer of the Nintendo 3DS’ Hyrule Warrior Legends, Yosuke Hayashi, who shares a load of details about the upcoming game. Apparently, planning for the Nintendo 3DS version started soon after the release of the Wii U version after they saw people enjoyed it. He said:

That was after the release of the Wii U version. The Wii U version got a positive reception from people who played it, but as there are already many Zelda titles on the Nintendo 3DS, many Zelda fans said “I’d like to play this on 3DS”. The development of the Nintendo 3DS version took off from there.

What we’re most excited for though is the addition of characters from The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker, but not only do we get Wind Waker characters but an entire epilogue story. Hayashi has said that the Wind Waker segment will take place directly after the end of Hyrule Warriors for the Wii U. Now, we’ve seen Tetra and the King of Red Lions confirmed for Hyrule Warrior Legends but apparently they won’t be the only new characters we’ll see. Hayashi said:

I can’t go into details yet, but we plan to add new character(s) [can mean one or several] other than Tetra and King of Hyrule. There are fan favorites and surprising characters in the game, so I’d be happy if you kept guessing who will join the fight while waiting for follow-up information.

So there’s some pretty cool news! Hyrule Warrior Legends is still in development, apparently it’s 60% complete and we’ll get to see it sometime at the start of 2016.

  1. Pretty hype for this game but I can’t justify buying the same game twice for full price within a year of each other. I hope it’s a budget title but let’s face it, it won’t be.

    1. If you own the Wii U version, Is it worth it to buy the 3ds for the characters even? They should be out as DLC, at least. I think the 3ds version Is for those who don’t have a Wii U.

  2. Nintendo Dark Jester Kooweek

OK, so I already had an headache planning with my friend how to correctly complete missions, and now I end up having to manage multiple characters at a time

  3. This port shows, once again, that 3DS is Wii U’s spoiled little brother. It has to have the popular games big brother has (Hyrule Warriors, Smash, even Xenoblade Chronicles [via backwards compatibility]), & will hurt big brother to have them. & Nintendo is the parent playing favorites @ the expense of the child that needs the most attention. But was Wii U ever really a priority?

    1. Unlike the systems before, WiiU literally has an at least comparable 3DS counterpart for nearly every major game, while the 3DS still has a lot more of it’s own exclusive games.

      Mario Kart 8 – Mario Kart 7
Super Mario 3D World – Super Mario 3D Land
Wind Waker HD – Ocarina of Time 3D
Super Smash Bros 4 WiiU – Super Smash Bros 4 3DS
Mario Party 10 – Mario Party Island Tour
New Super Mario Bros U – New Super Mario Bros 2
Sonic Lost World – Sonic Lost World
Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze – Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D
NES Remix Pack – Ultimate NES Remix
And there’s a lot more actually

The sad part is, whenever the 3DS version is released first, the WiiU version almost always ends up feeling like a glorified Handheld game.

  4. I just got the Wii U version of this so im a bit steamed to hear about the 3DS version having more features. I’m hoping they’ll come to Wii U as DLC or something.

    1. Ridley 4 Smash DLC!

They fucking better. I refuse to buy the 3DS version for that epiloque, no matter how fucking cool it ends up being. Or how much new story it brings! But considering that Warriors Orochi 3 Hyper didn’t get Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate’s added story & characters as DLC, expect to be screwed over by Koei Tecmo & Nintendo. :/

      1. Ridley 4 Smash DLC!

But maybe the fact we are getting Tetra & the King of Red Lions on the Wii U original, maybe there is hope. Oh wait. So far, we can only get those two characters if we actually go & buy Hyrule Warriors Legends for the 3DS. There goes that hope. Unless I’m missing something.

  5. I predict we’ll see characters who are best known from portable Zelda games, like Marin, Linebeck, maybe even Ezlo!

  6. One character I would love to see and was disappointed they never put in the Wii u version was the skull kid.

  7. “…but not only do we get Wind Waker characters but an entire epilogue story. Hayashi has said that the Wind Waker segment will take place directly after the end of Hyrule Warriors for the Wii U.”

That’s messed up. If we don’t get this on Wii U as DLC, hell I’ll even pay another $20, I will hate you Nintendo.

    1. Ridley 4 Smash DLC!

*points at Warriors Orochi 3 Hyper which did not get the added story elements & new characters that were added into Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate for the PS4* So… be prepared to hate them because it might be happening with this.

  8. Yes can’t wait to buy this game I hope the the rumors about female link are true I want to play as a female link so bad

  9. Didn’t buy it on wii u because it just didn’t feel like a console experience to me after I rented It so I didn’t really pay much attention to it. But Now that it’s being released on 3ds I will definitely buy it! =)

  11. Now there’s MORE on the 3DS version than just 2+ new characters?

It’s bad enough the 3DS game gets all the DLC characters Wii U owners had to pay extra for right out of the box for free, now more missions and story? It’s like Nintendo WANTS us Wii U supporters to feel betrayed.

  12. is not the same game is a hole different story with at least 3 new characters 2 new fields and new forces and captains and the dlc free and you can change at least 6 characters in a fight
