Despite posting a lower than expected operating loss Nintendo is confident that it will sell 10 million Wii U consoles during the machines first financial year. Nintendo president Satoru Iwata expects combined Wii U and Wii sales of 10.5 million consoles and 70 million software units. Nintendo has yet to announce a release date for Wii U, but it’s expected to launch later this year.
The latest edition of American gaming publication Nintendo Power states that New Play Control! Pikmin 2 is finally coming to North America sometime later this year. Pikmin 2 for Wii originally went on sale in Europe three years ago. Better late than never I guess.
Nintendo of America has already released the fantastic Xenoblade Chronicles, and is looking to release The Last Story during the Summer, but what about Pandora’s Tower? Well, Operation Rainfall is looking to take things into their own hands and pitch the game to publishers in a desperate effort to bring the game to North America.
With the recent revelation that XSEED Games approached Nintendo of America to publish The Last Story in North America and the fact that GameStop may have played a large role in the localization of Xenoblade Chronicles, the staff of Operation Rainfall have decided to try a different approach regarding a North America release of Pandora’s Tower. Our previous campaigns involved a lot of messaging Nintendo of America – on Facebook and Twitter, through email and over the phone, and even via physical mail.
This time, rather than asking Nintendo for Pandora’s Tower directly (which we have already been doing for the past 9 months, alongside Xenoblade Chroniclesand The Last Story), instead we would like to pitch Pandora’s Tower to the publishers themselves. This does not involve any spamming or harassing of the various publishers, but instead we plan on sending a special promotional kit to each of the publishers we have selected.
Nintendo of America has just issued a press release stating that New Super Mario Bros 2 for the Nintendo 3DS will be coming to North America in August. New Super Mario Bros. 2 is a traditional side-scrolling adventure game featuring Mario, Luigi and loads of other favorite characters from the popular Mario series.
To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the cute-but-powerful Kirby character, Nintendo will release a special anniversary software disc for Wii later this year. The disc will contain a variety of previously released, fan-favorite Kirby games. Additional Kirby anniversary activities will be revealed at a later date.

To celebrate Kirby’s 20th anniversary Nintendo will be releasing a compilation disc filled with some of the best Kirby games ever created. Nintendo previously created a similar package to celebrate Mario’s 25th anniversary. Which Kirby games would you like to see included?

There were a number of key announcements including New Super Mario Bros 2 for Nintendo 3DS which is coming in August and Animal Crossing 3D which will be released this Fall. Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata has posted a photo of himself posing with a giant Kirby plushy to advertise the Japanese Nintendo Direct presentation. Of course this has prompted mass speculation from all corners of the internet that Nintendo is going to use the presentation to reveal a new Kirby related title for either Nintendo 3DS or Wii. Masahiro Sakurai has also urged Kid Icarus Uprising fans to watch the Nintendo Direct presentation.
The English trailer for Project Zero 2 has leaked just before the Nintendo Direct conference takes place in Europe tomorrow. Project Zero 2 is scheduled to be released in Europe on June 29th. Nintendo of America has yet to announce a release date for the game.
Nintendo UK has announced via Twitter that it will be hosting its own Nintendo Direct conference tomorrow. The event will take place at 1pm Central European Time and 12pm midday in the UK. Nintendo of Japan also announced it’s hosting an event tomorrow.
