IGN has conducted another survey, this time asking 62,000 readers which console they’re most interested in. The majority of users are looking forward to the next Xbox and PlayStation 4 – both of which are expected towards the end of next year. Surprisingly 34% were interested in the rumoured Steam Box from Steam compared to 40% for Wii U. Obviously this should change once Nintendo lifts the lid on Wii U at next months E3.

The pre-order goodies for Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 have shown up on a few select retail sites and they are nothing short of underwhelming. For instance, if you decide to pre-order the game with Amazon what will you actually get? Well, you will receive a free digital wallpaper. Not exactly the best pre-order incentive I’ve ever seen, but then again, does the Call of Duty series really need pre-order incentives?

Update: I’ve been informed in the comments that GameStop will have additional pre-order incentives which weren’t listed by the source. Apparently you will be eligible to receive four downloadable items which can be used in-game, if you pre-order as soon as possible.

Ubisoft has reconfirmed that the previously delayed Rayman Origins for Nintendo 3DS will be arriving in North America on June 5th. Ubisoft stated in their press release that Rayman Origins will be available to purchase at retailers and online on June 5th. The interesting thing is that the game comes out the same day as Nintendo’s E3 press conference where they are expected to reveal more information about same day digital and retail releases.

“The full version of the game will be available at retailers and online on June 5, 2012.”

Online gaming publication IGN recently polled its readers and asked them exactly what they thought of the occasionally loved, but generally loathed, motion controls in gaming. Unsurprisingly the majority of people weren’t fans of the devices, and they simply preferred using traditional control schemes. IGN believes that the poll is one of the largest of its kind related to motion controls.

Nintendo of America has confirmed via a press release that Ubisoft’s long-awaited Rayman Origins demo is now available to download on the Nintendo 3DS eShop. Kirby’s Block Ball is also available to purchase from the Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console – that’s if you fancy some frenzied, block-clearing action. There’s also a 3D trailer for the latest Men in Black movie which comes out May 25th. If you haven’t already done so you can download the update for Mario Kart 7 which removes the notorious Wuhu Island glitch.

Wired has managed to scoop some screens of Epic Games next generation video game engine Unreal Engine 4. Epic Games unveiled the engine to developers in February, a week before the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco. Representatives from Microsoft, Sony, Nvidia, and the most influential game developers in the industry all had a chance to see the fruits of Epic Games labour. Epic has yet to reveal whether Wii U games will run on Unreal Engine 4.

Ubisoft is confident that the next generation of video game consoles, including Wii U, will be profitable for the company. The company believes that initial development costs won’t go up primarily because developers can really leverage the capacity of the hardware and all the new features that come with the console to help bring a new experience to the consumer.

“So you need to invest less on the size of the those games to still give a great experience. So at the beginning of that generation we won’t have an increase – or a very small increase – of the cost of the games that will be launched.

“So that will make this [next] generation a very viable and profitable generation – like last time we had an increases of $10 in the price of different games.”

US retail emporium Best Buy are selling the fairly controversial Metroid: Other M for the ridiculously cheap price of $7.99. Admittedly the game did receive rather mixed reviews from the gaming press. If you were previously sitting on the fence about buying it, then now’s the perfect time to do so.

Monolith Soft, the Nintendo-owned development studio behind the fantastic Xenoblade Chronicles, is helping develop Sega, Namco and Capcom’s Nintendo 3DS exclusive Project X Zone. The game is a 2D beat-em-up which features famous characters from the three aforementioned game studios. Fan favourites such as Ken, Ryu and Mega Man will all be making an appearance.

Square Enix has revealed via Twitter that it doesn’t plan to release Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance “Mark of Mastery” edition in Europe. However, Square Enix hasn’t ruled out the possibility that Europeans will get their own special edition version of Kingdom Hearts 3D for Nintendo 3DS.
