Nintendo Wii U: Skyrim And Oblivion Developer Looking At Developing For Wii U

Pete Hines, the vice president of Bethesda Softworks, has told the Official Nintendo Magazine that the company is currently considering developing for the Wii U. Hines encouragingly told the magazine that there’s definitely a possibility that Bethesda will develop for Wii U in the future.

“It’s definitely a possibility for the future. We’ll look at any platform that will support that games we’re trying to make, but that’s the key thing – the console has to support the game as it is designed.”

“We’ll see. It’s definitely a possibility.”

Nintendo Wii U: Oblivion Developer Bethesda Will Support Wii U If It’s Powerful Enough

Bethesda Vice President Pete Hines has told journalists that the company is always looking to make their games available on as many consoles as possible, as long as they’re graphically capable of running them. Bethesda clearly don’t have any development kits, as Hines pointed out that he knows absolutely nothing about the technical capabilities of the new system. What Bethesda franchise would you most like to see on Wii U?

“So to whatever extent new consoles fit with the kind of games we are making and support them technologically, we would certainly [try to release them for those systems.]

“The Wii wasn’t even an option – we would have to make wholesale changes to the games we were making on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC to make them work on Wi.”

“I honestly know nothing about the tech specs of the new platforms and whether or not they are a good fit for what we are making with say Rage and Skyrim and Prey 2.”

“If they are a good fit for the kind of games we are making then absolutely, we would look to put them out for those. But beyond that I can’t get into specifics.”

Nintendo Wii: Fallout 3 Dev Still Not Enamoured By Wii

Bethesda Softworks the developer behind the revered Oblivion and Fall Out 3 has openly spoken out about developing any of their I.Ps for the Nintendo Wii or Ds.

We’ve seen games selling in the past 18 months that we never thought we’d see. We wouldn’t have thought that pet games and cooking games would have a viable market five years ago. No publisher would have taken those products on.

But Nintendo bought new products in with vast amounts of marketing money to launch these into the minds of the consumer and made a market for them. Every other publisher then very quickly developed DS and Wii products and we’re getting to saturation now.
