Nintendo have finally confirmed that the Black Nintendo Wii is making its way to North America, May 9th.
The Black Nintendo Wii bundle will retail for $199.99 and will include a copy of the well received Wii Sports Resort and the original Wii Sports, a Wii Remote and Nunchuck, plus the Wii MotionPlus peripheral.
Major US video gaming retailer Gamestop has written a lengthy email to its North American stores after a legitimate promotional display of the Black Nintendo Wii was leaked by one of its staff onto the Internet.
As you know, there is a lot of rumor and speculation about various new products and titles launching this year. One of these is the Black Wii. Various blogs and internet sites are raising awareness about this product. Gamestop stores and associates should not proliferate these rumors. Today, you received POP for your windows regarding the Black Wii. Somehow, a picture of this appeared on the internet. It may seem cool to be in the know and feel compelled to share something like this. Nothing can be further from the truth. All activity like this does is hurt our reputation with publishers and manufacturers and potentially hurts our company. Until Nintendo decides to announce THEIR product, there should be no discussion of it with customers, period. If they ask, “It’s not appropriate to comment on speculation and rumor” should be the answer. The POP should be secured in the back room and left there until further notice. ANY violation of these will be treated with the most aggressive consequences. I believe strongly in the field organization, but I am as disappointed as I have been in my tenure here in how we are handling this. I am trusting that your professionalism will result in no further issues.

Numerous gaming emporiums in the United States have told online gaming publication Kotaku that the black version of the Nintendo Wii is due to be released in North America in May.
The long-awaited black Nintendo Wii bundle for North America apparently includes a copy of Wii Sports Resort and the Wii MotionPlus accessory, and is currently listed by the retailers at $199.99.
Nintendo has finally announced plans to bring a limited edition black Wii console to Europe starting from next month.
The ever-so-sleek bundle comes packaged with Wii Sports, Wii Sports Resort, and Wii MotionPlus, and will become available to consumers in the UK and Ireland from the 6th November and the rest of Europe on the 20th November.
Nintendo have announced that its eagerly awaited black versions of the Wii remote and nunchuk will be available at US retail outlets, November 16th.
The black Wii remote (which comes pre-bundled with Wii Motionplus) will be priced at $50, whilst the the black Wii nunchuck accessory will sell separately for $20. Sadly there’s still no word from Nintendo as to when the West will receive the highly anticipated black Wii console.

Doing away with the white, clean, simplistic look of the white Wii, the black Wii looks rather ominous in comparison. No word as of yet of a Western street date, but we will undoubtedly hear of one any time soon.
I’d firstly like to point out that this is indeed a rumour and isn’t linked to any sustainable source, but nevertheless I thought it’d be worthy of a post.
GameOPS, an upcoming Filipino gaming blog, has claimed that it’s been given the scoop that many major blogs are clamouring to get – the official confirmation of a onyx black Nintendo Wii by what they call ‘A very reliable source deep inside Nintendo’s Redmond Headquarters’.
