Nintendo & Kirby Set New World Record With Pink Chewing Gum

To celebrate Kirby’s 20th Anniversery, Nintendo managed to break a Guinness World Record. During PAX Prime today, a total of 536 Kirby fans blew chewing gum bubbles at the same time. Nintendo will also release Kirby’s Dream Collection: Special Edition for Wii on September 16th to commemorate the pink hero’s milestone.

Since debuting in 1992, Kirby has starred in 22 video games that collectively have sold more than 33 million units worldwide. His distinctive appearance and unique ability to inhale enemies and copy their abilities have made him a fan favorite for two decades.

According to Guinness World Records, the previous record was 304 participants, achieved by Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on Oct. 27, 2010. Participants in the Kirby-themed record attempt were instructed to chew their gum for at least one minute and then blow and hold bubbles for 30 seconds.

Kirby Teaches You How To Blow A Chewing Gum Bubble

Nintendo of America Tweeted an infographic that gives step-by-step instructions on how to blow a bubble; all you have to do is act like Kirby. This, of course, is related to Nintendo’s celebration of the round, pink hero’s 20th anniversary, in which the company plans to break a Guinness World Record by trying to make hundreds of PAX Prime attendees simultaneously blow chewing gum bubbles on September 1st.

Nintendo To Celebrate Kirby’s 20th Anniversary With Guinness World Records Attempt

Fans of Nintendo’s classic Kirby character will come together for a new Guinness World Records attempt for the most people blowing a chewing gum bubble simultaneously. At the PAX Prime conference on Sept. 1, these consumers will not only attempt to break the standing record of 304 participants but will also get the chance to win fun prizes, including Kirby’s Dream Collection: Special Edition. The event will help to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Kirby franchise and celebrate the upcoming Sept. 16 launch of Kirby’s Dream Collection: Special Edition for Wii.

Kirby’s Anniversary Collection Coming September

Back in April, Nintendo announced that it was Kirby’s 20th Anniversary. To celebrate, Nintendo will be releasing a collection of Kirby games on one disk for Wii. The official name of the compilation is Kirby’s Dream Collection: Special Edition. The game will be released in September. Even though this is a Wii game, you can still play it on the upcoming Wii U. Nintendo hasn’t announced which Kirby games will be on the disk – which ones are you hoping for?
