US: Pokémon Hoopa To Be Distributed In McDonald’s

According to Serebii, The Pokémon Company plan to bring the Hoopa distribution event to the US, and you can get your hands on one from your local McDonald’s branch starting from November 27th through to December 23rd. Serebii does state that it isn’t confirmed which method of distribution this will be – either by code or by Nintendo Zone or local distribution methods. The mythical Pokémon is also being distributed via download codes in participating GAME stores throughout Europe, which started on October 23rd.

Hoopa will be level 50, and compatible with Pokemon X, Y, Alpha Sapphire and Omega Ruby versions. The Hoopa you receive will be in confined form, but when it’s paired with the prison bottle in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire versions it will become Hoopa Unbound.

This will be the first time that McDonald’s has held a Pokemon distribution event outside of Japan, so it could be a sign of more to come in the future.

Game Freak Announces Sky Battles And Horde Encounters For Pokémon X And Pokémon Y

Game Freak has announced a new type of Pokémon battle debuting in Pokémon X and Pokémon Y. Sky Battles will be featured in the upcoming games. Select Pokémon Trainers that players encounter will challenge them to battles that take place above ground. Players can only participate in Sky Battles if they have certain Pokémon in their party that can fly. According to Game Freak, the “Sky Battle is a visually stunning battle scenario and an exciting new addition to Pokémon video games.”

Game Freak has also announced Horde Encounters, where the player wields only a single Pokémon while battling against multiple wild Pokémon that attack simultaneously. Sylveon Is A “Fairy-Type” Pokémon?

An anonymous, supposedly ‘genuine’ source claims that the rumored “Fairy-type” is a new type of Pokémon that will be introduced in Pokémon X and Pokémon Y. According to the source, the newly discovered Eevee evolution, Sylveon, is “Fairy-type,” and is weak against Poison and Steel-type Pokémon, immune to Dragon-types, super-effective against Dragon, Dark and Fire-types. Below you can read more rumors on “Fairy-type” Pokémon, along with some unconfirmed details on Pokémon X and Pokémon Y.

  • Fairy will be a new type. It is weak to Poison and Steel, immune to Dragon, super effective against Dragon, Dark, and Fighting, and Fire and Psychic-type Pokemon take half damage from it.
  • Sylveon is Fairy-type. Some older Pokemon will be reclassified to Fairy, such as Mawile (Steel/Fairy).
  • Mewtwo has two new formes, not just one. Both are activated via items.
  • The professor’s English name is Patrice.
  • The Starter final evolutions are Fire/Psychic, Grass/Fighting, and Water/Dark.
  • The first Gym is Bug, the second is Fairy, and the fourth is Fighting.
  • A few attacks will be dual-typed.
  • There will be a new type of battling style that Flying-type Pokemon and Pokemon with Levitate can participate in.
  • You will be able to see a Pokemon’s EVs at a certain in-game facility. You will be able to boost the EVs through mini-games. It will take about two hours to get one stat to max EVs.

Brand-New Pokémon Type Confirmed?

In a recently aired “Pokémon Smash” episode, participants were trying to figure out Eevee evolution Sylveon’s type. During a segment in the episode, it was implied that Sylveon is strong against Ice-type Pokemon, and weak against Poison and Fighting types. If by now you’re thinking it is a Steel-type, think again, as it was revealed that Sylveon lacks the Poison immunity of Steel types. Apparently, if all these implications are true, Sylveon is not a “Fairy-type,” which, as of now, is a rumored Pokémon type.
