Play.com a popular online retailer in the United Kingdom have seen fit to price the forthcoming Nintendo 3DS for £199.99.

Whilst this could simply be a place-holder price tag it seems likely that the machine will retail for around this price when it launches in the United Kingdom at the end of this year or early next year.

Fansite Zelda Informer claims to have insider knowledge regarding the next instalment of the highly awaited Zelda game for the Nintendo Wii ahead of its expected reveal tomorrow at Nintendo’s E3 press conference.

Zelda Wii’s official title is “The Legend of Zelda” without a subtitle.

The game’s setting is said to take place several hundred years before the events of Ocarina of Time, revealing how the Master sword came to be.

The girl in the Zelda artwork previewed at last year’s E3 is called “Zordiana”, and as expected she plays an important role.

Seamless dungeons – smooth graduation. There will be dungeons with no bosses, and bosses with no dungeons. The first “dungeon”, an ice level, is said to be playable at E3.

The hookshot is also used, but unlike past zeldas it won’t pull a player immediately towards a selected target. Players can swimg with the hookshot (like the grappling hook from Wind Waker).

The control for bow and arrow is said to be similar to the one used in Wii Sports Resort.

There are two levels of difficulty put in by Aonuma. Miyamoto didn’t want this option included, however there will be a normal mode for regular players, and a “Hero” mode with harder enemies and no “Super Guide” feature.

Sometimes you have to “draw” a specific symbol on a door with your sword, to open it.

According to online gaming publication IGN acclaimed Nintendo developer Retro Studios are working on reinvigorating the Donkey Kong franchise for Nintendo.

‘The Nintendo-funded studio that created Metroid Prime and its two sequels — is now working its magic on a Wii game starring Donkey Kong.’

A French gaming website is claiming it’s been informed that Nintendo will be debuting a new version of the Wii at next weeks E3 event in Los Angeles.

Apparently the new system, which is currently known as Wii Hi-Fi, will have similar graphical capability’s to Microsoft’s Xbox 360 along with a strong focus on community and online gaming.

Respected technology publication Wired and gaming publication Kotaku are reporting that details of Nintendo’s forthcoming 3DS console have been leaked on a Chinese bloggers website.

“The effect of the [3D] screen is amazing,” the blogger wrote, as translated by Kotaku.

The details come from someone who claims to have access to the 3DS development kit, Kotaku says. According to the report, the lower screen is the same size as the current Nintendo DS, but the upper screen is much bigger (and in 3-D, naturally).

Chinese bloggers sketch

Online gaming publication Destructoid is claiming that Nintendo have been showcasing Animal Crossing on the 3DS in a bid to win over potential development studios into producing games for the 3D enabled handheld.

According to our sources, Nintendo has been quietly wooing developers and publishers with a handheld 3D demo of its popular franchise, Animal Crossing. Word has it that the game will be revealed next week as a launch title for Nintendo’s handheld. When contacted with a request for comment, Nintendo’s response was as expected: “Nintendo does not comment on rumors or speculation.”

A poster over at popular online gaming forum Neogaf has stated that both Metroid: Other M and Sin & Punishment 2 have been delayed.

Metroid: Other M’s original North American release date of 27th of June has been changed to “To Be Determined”, whilst Sin and Punishment 2 has been put back three weeks from the 6th to the 27th of June.

According to early leaks originating from Japan, Nintendo forthcoming 3D handheld will feature a 3.4 inch Sharp Parallax Barrier Display Screen which includes a modest 480 x 854 pixel display.

Unlike the 3D displays you’ll find in modern 3D HDTVs requiring the viewer to wear active or passive glasses, Sharp’s display uses a parallax barrier system to create a sense of depth by using a series of vertical slits in an ordinary LCD to direct light to the right and left eyes. The panel offers a 500nit brightness, 1,000:1 contrast, and is available with or without a touchscreen.

An anonymous source over at Nintendo World Report has told the online gaming publication that they believe the Nintendo DS2 will not be shown off at this years Games Developer Conference, but instead will be revealed to the public at E3 2010 in June.

The source said that a developer is working on a title for the DS successor, which was billed as being much more powerful, and that the release date is set. When pressed, the developer only hinted at the fact that the system won’t be announced at the Game Developer’s Conference in March, but might be announced at E3 2010 in June.

British gaming publication, NGamer, is claiming that Sega’s speedy mascot Sonic The Hedgehog is appearing in Nintendo’s highly anticipated Super Mario Galaxy 2.

Although the Nintendo publication is renowned for its sense of humour, it was one of the first gaming publications to announce that Nintendo was bringing Zelda: Twilight Princess across to the Nintendo Wii.
