Nintendo 3DS And New Super Mario Bros 2 Dominate Japan

New Super Mario Bros 2 has once again reclaimed the top spot in the Japanese software charts comfortably selling 143,321 units. The total number of Nintendo related titles in the Japanese top ten software charts is eight. The Nintendo 3DS thrashed the competition this week selling 102,646 units. The handheld’s closet competitor was Wii which sold 16,145.

Pokemon Takes Over Japanese Video Games Chart

Pokemon + Nobunaga’s Ambition has unsurprisingly topped the Japanese software chart. The game managed to sell 172,000 units which was enough to fend off Shining Blade, the latest PSP entry in Sega’s Shining series, which sold 122,000 units in its first week. Here’s the top 10 Media Create sales chart, covering March 12th through March 18th.

Sixteen Of Top Twenty Games During Christmas In Japan Were Either On Wii Or Nintendo 3DS

A mighty impressive sixteen out of the top twenty games in the Japanese all-formats chart were on either Wii, Nintendo 3DS or Nintendo DS. The fantastic Mario Kart 7 took the number one spot but was following fairly closely by Super Mario 3D Land and Monster Hunter Tri G. Interestingly enough there wasn’t one PlayStation Vita game in the Japanese top twenty.

Nintendo 3DS: Super Mario 3D Land Sells Over Half A Million Copies In Japan Outselling Zelda And COD

Enterbrain and Famitsu have revealed that Super Mario 3D Land has managed to shift over half a million copies from October 31st through to November 27th which means it has outsold both The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 in Japan. Here’s the full list:

Nintendo 3DS: Nintendo 3DS Outsells The PSP By Double In Japan, Still Going Strong

The Nintendo 3DS is still holding its own in Japan as it remains the best-selling platform in Japan. This week saw the Nintendo 3DS outselling the PlayStation Portable by 2 to 1 even though Square Enix released Final Fantasy Type-O exclusively for the platform.
