Marketing research firm NPD has revealed that New Super Mario Bros Wii has outsold a plethora of top titles including the critically acclaimed Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 in the United States during January.

Nintendo: Strong Games Will Sell Well On Nintendo Consoles

Executive vice president of sales and marketing, Cammie Dunaway, firmly believes that strong software titles are all-important to Nintendo and will in turn equate to strong, healthy software sales.

“We believe that the pipeline for games for experienced gamers is getting to be very robust and will continue to be so. I think strong games will have strong sales, and one of the things too is that these games can have really long tails. That it’s not just a matter of looking at the first month of sales.”

Nintendo: Nintendo Still Decimating Competition In Japan

Six of the top ten software titles in the Japanese charts are currently for Nintendo platforms.

Nintendo is currently dominating the Japanese software charts with an impressive six of the top ten titles for either the Nintendo Wii or Nintendo DS/DSi. Nintendo incredulously show no significant signs of slowing down any time soon.

Nintendo Wii: Monster Hunter 3 Quadruples Nintendo Wii Sales

Capcom’s recently released Monster Hunter 3 has quadrupled Nintendo Wii sales throughout Japan.

The critically acclaimed Monster Hunter 3 has shifted a monstrous amount of Wii units in Japan. Sales for the Nintendo Wii were 95,357, up from about 24,000 units the week prior. Looks as though Nintendo are thoroughly reaping the benefits of the franchise appearing on their console.

Wii Fit, Wii Play and Mario Kart Wii are the top three best-selling games in the UK so far this year. Following closely behind these three titles is Professor Layton and the Curious Village for the Nintendo DS in fourth place, and Killzone 2 for the PlayStation 3 at five.

Nintendo Wii: Phil Harrison Claims 3rd Parties Miss 40% Of Wii Market

An outspoken Phil Harrison makes a stonkingly bold claim stating that that third party developers miss 40% of the Wii audience.

To counteract this fairly audacious claim EA Blueprint’s Neil Young went on record to cite EA’s very own Smarty Pants as evidence that this fictional claim isn’t entirely true.
