Speculation is stirring on the web following Sakurai’s latest Smash Bros. Wii U screenshot, pictured above. The image hints at the inclusion of Xerneas from Pokemon X & Y, but will the character be a playable fighter in the new Smash Bros.? Will Xerneas be tied to Pikachu’s abilities somehow? Sakurai has not released any definitive information regarding the screenshot, so for now, gamers will have to simply wait for the first high-def Smash Bros. game, and get their Xerneas fix from the fast-selling Pokemon X & Y on 3DS.
Pokémon X and Pokémon Y were revealed earlier this month, and both of them will be released this year exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS. Amazon.com has begun taking pre-orders for the two role-playing games. If you want to encounter the legendary four-legged deer, Xerneas, pre-order Pokémon X here. If you want to catch the legendary Y-shaped bird, Yveltal, pre-order Pokémon Y from the online retailer here. Pokémon X and Pokémon Y will launch worldwide in October.
Pokémon fans asked The Pokemon Company how to pronounce the two, new Legendary Pokémon in Pokémon X and Pokémon Y – Xerneas and Yveltal. According to the company, the English phonetic spellings for the new legendary Pokémon are Xerneas: ZURR-nee-us and Yveltal: ee-VELL-tall. The two games will launch worldwide in October 2013 exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS.
