Nintendo Plans Christmas Marketing Assault

Nintendo have announced that they have allocated £6.5 million for a marketing blitz which is set to storm both TV and cinema, and will also help fund sampling initiatives and an extensive press campaign this December.

The news was announced by Nintendo at a retail-targeted event that took place in London last night, in which the company confirmed it’s set to heavily promote both its forthcoming Wii console, and its exceptionally popular DS as the must have consumer items this Christmas.

There can be no doubt that the Christmas period is the most important time of year for the video gaming giant, which is set to go head to head with Microsoft’s Xbox 360 in Europe this fall. Which of the two will emerge the victorious remains to be seen, but with an innovative console and an impressive marketing budget, Nintendo could have its best Christmas yet.
