Nintendo Wii: Chances Of Goldeneye For Wii Are Extremely Slim

rare_logo

The chances of Rare striking a deal with Nintendo to bring the classic Goldeneye to the Wii Virtual Console is looking extremely slim.

“That was some time ago, my friend.”

“Fate was against us that day. Destiny conspired to raise the hurdles even as we attempted to clear them, resulting in unpleasant groinal injury.”

“I suspect we’re long past the stage where an agreement was on the cards, but you never know. Stranger things have happened… somewhere… probably,”

  1. This is a game the the Wii Virtual Console that I have continually been saying that needs to be on the list of downloadable content. This is one the the Nintendo 64’s best FPS and was the ONLY 007 game that had the best rating on the N64 for the longest time. In Rare and Nintendo do some serious thinking, they would realize that just about EVERY Wii console owned by someone that grew up with N64’s “007 Goldeneye” would have that game on their Wii if it were to be released for Virtual Console. Yes there may have been some serious conflicts back then, but this is a new age. If Nintendo was able to release Rare’s “Donkey Kong Country” series for the Virtual Console, then I do not see why they cannot release “007 Goldeneye”.

    1. That’s because DK is a nintendo property rare only developed it. James bond is a highly lucritive movie, game and book franchice to which EA (I think) hold the game rights to now. There will be very few movie licenced games available to rebuy on all consoles just due to profit sharing and even reliciencing them for the port

    2. Dude I totally agree with this was like the only good James Bond game at least to me but I will be willing to 1000 Wii points for this it was a really good game

  2. look people, you can easily pick this game up for around 8 bucks.
I have a complete copy, and tend to play it from month to month.

IF YOU’RE DIE HARD FANS OF GOLDENEYE 007 PICK UP THE ORIGINAL COPY.

(Not saying goldeneye on the xbl/psn/wiiware wouldn’t be cool :D)

  3. no shit we can’t get any Rare developed games on VC. Microsoft bought out Rare a few years back, and now Bill Gates is hogging all the Rare games for the 360. If you put out the N64 Rare games on VC, they’d probably be the best-sellers. DK64, 007, Banjo-Kazooie (possibly Tooie), Conker’s Bad Fur Day, etc. @.@

  4. Those were funny quotes, but disappointing how we won’t get GoldenEye. Why can’t they just put aside their problems, and work together to bring a great game to everyone?

    1. Yeah but they can put that problem aside and work together. Just because Nintendo and Microsoft are competing against each other doesn’t mean they can’t work together on this

  5. If Nintendo worked on Banjo, then why is it on xbla? Don’t they own a part of it? If they do then they should make a deal–rare/nintendo games should be distributed on both consoles.

    1. Banjo was an original IP by Rare so even though it was released on Nintendo it is still thiers the only Rare games we can get are the DK Country ones because DK is nintendo
