Revered gaming publication Edge has named Super Mario Galaxy 2 as its game of the year fending off fierce competition from the likes of Red Dead Redemption, Call of Duty: Black Ops and Mass Effect 2.

I didn’t get to play a lot this year, but SMG2 was epic.
It was brilliant, but what they said about Galaxy 1 bothers me. It seems that most critics lauded the removal of the hub world and ANY side story whatsoever; whereas I found these omissions to be quite bothersome. It might just be me, but I liked the original much more. Still, it’s great o see this beat Black Ops and Red Dead Redemption.
The real question is: How many licks does it take to get to the center of the tootsie pop?
Really? Thank GOD Call of Duty Black Ops didn’t get it. I guess we at least have a shred of dignity left on this earth.
