Nintendo Wii: Stroke Patient Attributes Her Recovery To The Nintendo Wii

Stephanie Ho, a 23-year-old stroke patient believes that she has made an incredible recovery from a stroke because of rehabilitation therapy using the Nintendo Wii.

Stephanies rehabilitation therapy involved playing the acclaimed Wii Sports for an hour on 10 consecutive weekdays, this helped improve her movements in her affected arm.

“It really helped me start using my affected arm again. Regular therapy can be so boring and frustrating, but with Wii therapy, you don’t have to think about it, you just play.”

– Stephanie Ho

The Nintendo Wii is inexpensive, easy to use and effective. This type of rehabilitation, using virtual reality, motivates participants to complete their therapy, which is essential for recovery to take place.”

  2. I can remember when I was going through physical therapy for my ankle, there was a fitness bike with a screen above the handle bars where you had to pedal to complete the course and it was made by Nintendo. This was back in 1999 too!
