Nintendo 3DS: Full List Of Free Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console Games Coming in Mid-August

Nintendo has reconfirmed that we will know by mid-August exactly which games current Nintendo 3DS owners will get for free due to the recently announced price cut. The information will be revealed by Nintendo on or before August 12th. Here’s the list of games that are currently confirmed by Nintendo:

  1. Starting Sept. 1, Nintendo 3DS Ambassadors will be able to download 10 NES Virtual Console games at no charge and before they are available in the Nintendo eShop to the general public. These games, including Super Mario Bros., Donkey Kong Jr.,Balloon Fight, Ice Climber and The Legend of Zelda, are slated to become paid downloadable games, but Ambassadors get them early for free. Once the paid versions of the games are posted to the Nintendo eShop later in the year, the updated versions will be available to Ambassadors for download at no cost.
  2. By the end of 2011, Nintendo will provide Ambassadors with 10 Game Boy Advance Virtual Console games. These include games like Yoshi’s Island: Super Mario Advance 3, Mario Kart: Super Circuit, Metroid Fusion, WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgame and Mario vs. Donkey Kong. These games will be available exclusively to Ambassadors, and Nintendo currently has no plans to make these 10 games available to the general public on the Nintendo 3DS in the future.

      1. The title lead me to think that the games are being handed out mid-august, and that this article has the complete list ready

          1. My native language is spanish, im really bad at english and the title is really clear, i mean, its obvious even for me lol

        1. The title isn’t misleading, the title clearly says that the full list of games will be out mid-august time.

            1. 3DS: Full List Of Free Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console Games Coming in Mid-August.. to anyone this could mean ‘this is the full list of games that are coming in mid-August

              1. it is probably assumed that you have already read news on the fact that the games are coming and practically every single one of those articles points to games coming out at/after the start of September. if you know that the games themselves are coming in September than the title must be referring to the list.

    1. This title was not misleading. It was clear and I understood it. Even a person who’s native language isnt english understood it. Perhaps you read it wrong.

    1. Yeah, it’s only their 3D classics range that’s in 3D. But they’ve said that they’re going to update them with a multiplayer mode, where their multiplayer modes will be playable online.

  1. Well, I must admit I’m rather excited about seeing what the other games are going to be! I would be happy with only the titles they have already announced but it feels great to know more is on the way.
P.S. I didn’t find your title misleading at all Sickr, but to each his own, I suppose.

      1. MY goodness NO. Let’s not. If you read the title wrong, it’s really not a big deal. Sure if you wanna be technical about it you Could read it any way you wanted to, but like a previous commentor already said, it depends on the assumption that you’ve been keeping up with this news story about the free games. Anyone who’s been paying attention would know that there coming starting Sept 1st to the end of the year. If you understand that then the title won’t be misleading to you 8O

  2. Wat id really like to see is an updated ar games. It should be perfected like the motion controls. More ar games to play would be nice too. Just an opinion

  3. it doesnt say what time or how many nes games we can get
does that mean if im an ambassador i will be able to download every single NES game they release for as long as i have my 3DS???

    1. There will be ten NES games and ten GBA games. 20 games total. All the free NES games will be downloadable on September 1st and the GBA games will come sometime after that. Simple answer no.

  4. Metroid Fusion?!? Man those kids are gunna have a fun time with that one! I’ve played it though at least around 30 times! Amazing game, that one is!

  5. Sony has its PSN user information compromised (including credit card information) because they had security similar to a plate of cookies with a post-it labeled “don’t touch”, then makes up for it by giving its users a few free games, most of which not worthwhile and some movie rentals.

Nintendo makes the mistake of launching a handheld at the same launch price as their most recent console with a weak lineup of launch titles, drops price by a lot just a few months later, then makes up for it by offering 20 free VC games for download to those who paid the original price, 10 of which aren’t even intended to be available to the general public. Not to mention the fact that Nintendo’s president took a 50% pay cut and the lower types took 30% and 20% pay cuts to make the price drop work.

Nintendo made a lesser mistake and did more to make up for it than Sony. Just goes to show how much these two care about their customers.

      1. IKR. And what did Microsoft do for the MILLIONS and MILLIONS of RROD ppl?? I love Nintendo! and Sony btw. I have all of the Nintendo and Sony systems and they have never let me down. I hope that this gives ppl a chance to see that the 3DS is a great system and it turns it around…

  6. Where’s Zelda Minish Cap and Metroid Zero Mission?! D:
Let’s hope we get them on the full list (:

  7. How will we know when we’ll actually be able to download them? How will nintendo know who got theirs before the price cut?

    1. I imagine they will do it the same way Sony did the free PSP games with the purchase of the Go system – they will go by system registration number date. This is gonna be sooo coooool!!

      1. As long as I’m able to get the downloads I guess ill b happy about it. Just wished the list so far was better…pokemon yellow would b nice to play again. Same with golden sun. Not too thrill with the list above.

  8. Do we know when we get the full list? Were these just highlights? If so, then would it be out of the question to hope for LOZ: Minish Cap?

  9. Will the virtual console games (GBA) be avalable in 3D? And I wouldnt be suprized if the dates got postponed to 6 months later cause nintendo isnt always the best about keeping their dates :[] But the ambassador program I highly endorse! Anything for free lol (I am an ambassador)

  10. I’m just hoping for the Legend of Zelda and the Minish Cap, that was one of my favorite GBA games, ever. Most of the other games I’m not really excited about though. Nintendo should definitely make the games that havent been announced much better, maybe they could convince whoever owns Golden Sun(i think it’s Capcom) to allow them to put Golden Sun on the GBA>
