As I had previously assumed it looks as though Nintendo of America are looking to gauge interest in European sales of Xenoblade Chronicles before deciding to release the game in the United States. Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime told IGN that the company is looking closely to see how well Xenoblade Chronicles, The Last Story and Pandora’s Tower all do in Europe before committing to releasing them in the US.
“We will be watching very closely what happens in Europe,” Fils-Aime told me. “Certainly if there are business opportunities and positive consumer uptake from some of those titles, that will be great data for us to consider as we look at what to do with these titles.”

I really hope people do. Saying that, I haven’t seen any adverts for Xenoblade Chronicles on television yet. I hope that changes next week.
Don’t bet on it, Nintendo isn’t going to waste their money on 1 Wii game, when they need to push the 3DS as hard as possible on the marketing side.
To be honest they haven’t had many Wii games to market lately so I expect to see something.
Sickr do your part and by a guide and do a whole review with pictures of this game. No one is covering these games in the gaming media. Tv ads are for casuals. The people that come here are mostly hardcore.

I always think it’s better to know next to nothing about the plot before playing. I’m playing through it at the moment. I’m around 19 hours in and it’s amazing. Hopefully people will purchase.
Well Personally I like to know a lot and do a lot of research before buying a game especially out a series that I never played, I don’t even care about spoilers, I just like to know will that Plot of a game keep me interested for a long time

By not posting any pictures detail even some spoilers the gaming media is pretty much saying this game does exsist which is why Europe got it rather than America.
I believe the plot is about two deities that are rivals and once fought each other. One deity was a more natural creature and the other more mechanical and evil. The heroes live on the natural deity and one of the humans is a chosen one to wield the Xenoblade which can defeat the other deity. Then again I’m not really sure.

I live in Europe and from the European (mainly Dutch) forums I visit often, I can see that there are enough people who want to but this game. So I think it will sell well here in Europe.
PS: Ads usually start after the release (here in the Netherlands, at least).

I only half understand this logic. It’s 2 different markets. Why is EUR the test market here? Do they traditionally favor these games more therefore making it the safer bet? I’m not in the business of looking at numbers and making these decisions, but it seems to me like this should be a bigger net scenario to catch more fish.

Agreed. Since when has EUR been a harbinger of anything for the US in the last 30 years? If you’re going to base your decision on whether or not to release a game in the US why don’t you, you know, ask folks in the US. There’s a reason that market research is done before products are launched, regardless of the geographic location.

This makes sense, but it also doesn’t. Doesn’t Reggie have an internet connection? Has he ever heard about Operation Rainfall? If he did, he would know that there is more than enough interest in this game to warrant releasing it stateside and he wouldn’t be saying things like this.
But the only people that would buy would be those people which wouldn’t be enough to make decent sales

Nintendo doesn’t need to watch Europe sales. Andrew Eisen’s “Nintendo: Why Won’t You Let Me Give You My Money” video makes the PERFECT case as to why they should release games like this her in North America. I can understand playing it safe, but honestly in the case of NA they should just release the games.

If I was living in the States I would have found a way to import it as opposed to waiting for an outcome to the whole PR saga that’s been taking place without a solid answer and with the majority of the localization completed, if not fully completed to their satisfaction.
