      1. I expect Vite to hold a bigger portion of the market share than the PSP did, but I don’t expect it to murder the 3DS. Outsell, maybe, but I still think that Sony fans are less likely to adopt a handheld than Nintendo fans.

  1. Well done Nintendo. Hope this happens on Wii U launch, The price maybe to high all that time. It’s a bargain the DSI was £150 at launch, and now the best offer i found at my local game store was £125 for Aqua Blue 3DS with Zelda OT 3DS.

I can’t believe i got the 3DS at launch and the cut came so quickly, I bought my 3DS alone no games at £220 plus the games around £40, hope this type of sales happen with the Wii U.

      1. 3DS sales will be higher because its New. Though im still surprised Sony is still selling fairly close to nintendo numbers considering how long the PS3 and PSP has been around. Its a win for both companies! :)

          1. yes, but these numbers are still for a system that has only 1 good game for it, 2 starting today. (Ocarina and Starfox). there will be a slew of good games coming out this holiday season, so the numbers could quite possibly grow millions after the season is done.

        1. Actually, sales should be higher for older systems. New systems get a boost, but until there is a game for every games, the attach rate can be really low. The DS is proof of that.

        1. I just gave the numbers strictly out of interest. But, yeah, you just subtract the handheld numbers from 100% (the combined totals) and that gives the console figures. Again, I just thought it was interesting that the total sales numbers were somewhat close, even though the proportion of handheld to home console were so different for both companies.

      2. Just one more note. Considering that Wii sold practically nothing, Nintendo’s combined sales are still higher than PSP and PS3 sales; this is a testament to how well 3DS sales have increased. To me, this is proof that the 3DS sales are not a failure, as has been previously reported.

  2. Unrelated: I just realized how often I visit this site a day. This is seriously my favorite Nintendo news site. Sickr owns!

  3. I always see the Japanese numbers but why no American or European ones too. Are they harder to come by or what. I would like to see what the numbers look like here in the states.

  4. dont want 2 sound negative but considering its the only 8th gen system YET and its quite new and price drop it should be higher hopefully starfox 64 and onwards will increase sales
