New Pokemon Game Revealed For Nintendo DS

Nintendo has revealed that it’s releasing a brand new Pokemon game titled Nobunaga Ambition X Pokemon for the Nintendo DS. Details are rather scarce but the game is coming to Japan in the Spring and is apparently a simulation RPG co-produced by Pokemon Co. and Tecmo Koei.

      1. A crossover between Nobunaga’s Ambition and Pokemon. Really. You saw *that* coming. Well, good sir, whatever it is you’re smoking to get a crazy trip like that, I want some.

    1. No, bad move. You know how many people would buy a 3ds JUST to play pokemon?! If it was a 3ds game, well that would definately increase sales for 3ds

    1. Why? They’re putting this on the ds and probably announcing the next main series game for the 3ds in january. People need to learn to try something new. Plus mewtwo and groudon in the same game? Sign me up! :D

      1. i would like annother colleseum game
i mean colleseum are my favorite pokemon games to play through story and it was double battling all the way through which made it interesting

    1. I was hoping for that to be next too.. But I still think that they’ll be doing it, there’s a lot of hype about it and it seems like all the fans want it. They would almost be stupid not to.

      1. There’s a theory floating around the interwebs that paints a dark, horrific history of the Pokémon world, or at least Red/Blue’s Kanto region. Many players have noted that in Pokémon Red/Blue, there is a large absence of middle aged men in the game world. Think about the last time you played Pokémon. An abnormally large amount of Pokémon trainers chillin’ in the wild were little kids. Think about it. Why were there so many damn toddlers roaming the wilds unattended? There were plenty of elderly men and women in the world (Professor Oak), and many middle aged women (the player’s mom, the nurses), but a lack of middle aged men. What about the player’s father, or your rival’s father? While most people wouldn’t worry about the absence of middle aged dudes, some Pokémon fans have rationalized this through the creation of yet another insane theory.

The electric-type gym leader, Lt. Surge mentions being a survivor of some sort of brutal war that almost took his life (he claims that his Pokémon saved his life). Other trainers in the gym were once soldiers in some sort of army, which presumably fought in a war. A war where Pokémon were used as weapons. Let that sink in for a moment, as you try to imagine the horror of hundreds of terrified soldiers storming beaches being held by goddamn Charizards. Some fans believe this war was the cause of the lack of adult men, claiming that all of them had been killed in the war. Essentially, some people are speculating that this war caused a ‘generation kill’, and that the young children of the Kanto region are the first generation to find peace. This also explains why the player’s father is absent (hint, he died), and why the rival character has no parents (hint, they died). While a lot of this theory involves speculation and imagination, the horrifying idea of a human-Pokémon war that wiped out an entire generation is pretty damn sweet. (Source: http://bit.ly/lN5uGW)

  1. I was hoping to get a pokemon universe, so like we choose the region of start, then decorate our own style of trainer and bring back awesomeness like secret bases in RSE, but nooooooo…
we got a simulation crap instead =_=

    1. Well, you think even the 3ds could hold the amount of data for that game? I wish, but I know power of machines but that game would have horrible graphics or something if they wished to make the game. Or we’ll wait for Wii U :D

      1. I could care less for the graphics, I know a number of fans do, but the idea Walg mentioned are things I feel should be a Pokemon staple by now including several other things to really make the in-game world more live and an actual different experience for each player.

…such as a Pokemon League that uses the game clock/calendar and occurs at a certain time each month (while during the rest of the month just being exhibition matches), different local tournaments for the towns (and gym exhibitions), rivalries development, etc. I do agree that it would be great amount of data for the 3DS though.

Beyond that, this title will be AWESOME if it’s basically Pokemon mixed with Romance of the Three Kingdoms-style gameplay/field battles.
        BeyondOff that,

      1. Unrealistic? Maybe. Childish? Not all. By this time Pokemon games should -at least- have two regions to travel and compete and an actual Pokemon League/tournaments as opposed to coming in and raping your rival and the Elite 4 each time.

…and that’s at the VERY least.

    1. I think so. Nintendo +Tecmo Koei… it wouldn’t be the first time. I hope this isn’t the same announcement that Coro Coro will reveal next month.

  2. Wow! Looks very different. I sure hope this is the beginning of a new main series, instead of the same formula – which, granted, I love, but it could sure do with some changes. Tile-based overworld? No trainer level scaling?

    Can’t wait for more news.

  3. I think I speak for all of us when I say that we’re sick and tired of the DS hardware by now.

I wasn’t gonna get it, but I feel sorry for those who will.

  4. Looks interesting, though I was hoping that The Pokemon Company would start focusing on the Nintendo 3DS, but all in all, I cannot wait for it :D

  5. Ancient Japanese War mixed with Pokemon?? Gamefreak must have been high when thinking up concepts for a new spin off XD either way this sounds epic. Slightly disappointed it’s DS only, it makes sense but they could do two versions like they did with the original Mysterious Dungeon games.

  6. pokemon should fuck off and die nothing but dissapointment there all the same shit go get gym badges stop a gay arse crew from hatching some plan catch an extra 100 of the little cunts bla bla bla

      1. It’s a simple spinoff, it’s not like it’ll be a main series game that you’re obligated to buy even if you don’t like it. What do you think everyone thought when Rangers came out?

  7. Blech…I love my generation games, and my coliseum, but making another crap “RUMBLE” for the 3ds, and then this. IF I WANTED ANOTHER RANGER GAME I WOULD TELL YOU.
Damn, at least put it on the Wii U so it would look sexy.

    1. Rumble got good reviews though….. Yet people bitch that pokemon never changes. People are ignorant, fuck nobody is making you buy shit and bashing a game off some japanese screenshots! 20bucks says this game never sees US soil.

  8. Dear nintendo, I want a customizable pokemon game. EXAMPLE: Create your character, choose region, meet prof of region, chose pokemon, go on journey! Etc. etc. etc. as for the graphics a full body view like in the anime! Please!!!!! Im begging you as a pokemon fan since I was 4 PLEASE GET IT TOGETHER!!!!

  9. Oh, it’s just a crossover game. (For those who don’t know, “X” in Japanese titles is read as “cross,” hence games like Streetfighter X Tekken is read “Streetfighter Cross Tekken,” signifying a crossover game.) This is not a “real” Pokemon game, but rather a crossover game that plays like the Nobunaga Ambition series but contains references to Pokemon. I highly doubt anything that happens in this game with become canon to the actual Pokemon universe. Also, it’s worth noting that the Nobunaga Ambition franchise has never seen a localization in the western world (aside from one game on the Virtual Console). As such, I wouldn’t expect this game to even get a release in North America or Europe.

  10. Am I the only person who thinks this could be kinda interesting? I’d like to see how it’s gonna work. Anyway, it has Bidoof in it so it’s gotta be good right? :P

  11. It’s a crossover game. Kinda disappointing because I don’t know the other game, so i’d never be able to appreciate it properly…

  12. The Only Pokemon Champion

    GameFreak
im sorry but this a joke
ive been an avid supporter for 8 years
and this is what i get?
    dissapointed

    1. I wonder this too. Maybe a celebi takes him through time.(my theory) but hey, mewtwos such a badass maybe he just teleported through time.

      1. You guys are taking this too seriously.
In games like Mystery Dungeon and Ranger, the storyline is completely different and separated from the main Pokémon games.

  13. I have a feeling this game will be Japanese only…but I would still buy it if it came to Australia, just out of love for the pokemon games.

  14. this actually looks really cool/interesting and if it ever comes to north america ill be buying it. now i would like to explain why i think this is being released for the ds instead of 3ds. first as shown in the trailer most of the action is happening on the bottom screen so this game would make little use of the 3d effect second i would think people want an actual pokemon game featuring all 5 regions rather than another spin-off third nintendo is trying something new for the first time and if they brought this ti the 3ds and it failed it wouldnt do them any good at least they know many people have a ds

i love this idea of including pokemon in another series. if rpgs could have pokemon rather than the regular monsters it would be cool

however the next pokemon game they should bring to the 3ds should be a totally pimped out with a heavy storyline but it would be pokemon TCG (remember that game on the gameboy color) THAT WOULD BE AWESOME!!

(nothing beats kid icarus uprising though)
