Only E3 Wii U Demos Will Be At CES 2012

We heard earlier today that Nintendo will be showing off the Wii U at CES in January but it now appears as though it will be nothing more than a replay of the E3 2011 showing. So that means it’s unlikely that we will see any real games for the system other than the tech demos that were shown off at E3 last year.

“Nintendo of America, working with the 2012 International CES management, will offer demos of the upcoming Wii U console to members of the media who did not see the system at the 2011 E3 Expo. However, Nintendo will not have a booth at CES, nor does it plan to include any games, experiences or information beyond what was available at the 2011 E3 Expo. Production and development efforts remain on track for the Wii U launch, which will take place between the start of the 2012 E3 Expo in June, and the end of 2012.”

  1. Nintendo hasn’t really said much on what Wii U first party launch titles are coming, other than Pikmin 3. i bet they’re waiting till E3 to blow people away at what amazing games they got lined up

      1. they started on it years ago for the Wii, but moved it to Wii U. id be highly suprised if it wasn’t a launch & they’re still working on it. also, they started on Mario Kart Wii U not too long ago. seeing as the 3DS version was done quickly & the Wii U isnt coming out for another half a year, Mario Kart U may be a launch title also

        1. They also started Zelda Wii U and possibly Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS since Kid Icarus Uprising is being completed and now being translated.

            1. You all really have no idea what you’re all on about, where are your ideas coming from exactly?? Nothing has been confired 100% but we are all to expect, Pikmin3, Smash Bros etc etc, hell bet we’ll get a new Zelda for 3DS too…but how can you make an assumption about its release? Maybe it will take less time to produce than home console..maybe another factor will get in the waaaaayyy we doooon’t know! Hold out :)

      1. Pikmin 3 with local and online multiplayer, co-op single player and online, modes capture the marble, pikmin brawl, survival, repair your ship first, and all these other possible modes, level creator, pikmin customize and level up, and gosh to much come to mind when Pikmin 3 comes.

        1. I never understood why they didn’t make an online mode on pikmin 2!! the game is pretty slow, so there is no as action as in smash bros brawl, and not so many things for the console to do… I think the only part of the game that I didn’t like so far is it.

          1. wooooah I just started to think about pikmin and I just got an idea!! what if olimar came this time to help the pikmin, and not to look for their help!!! I always found olimar very selfish because he just uses pikmin however he want and that botters me a little… I think they should invest more in the story of the game this time.

    1. i have Already gotten the ok from the wifey-poo for the Wii U, so they can come out whenever the want, cuz’ I’M GETTING IT! take your time nintendo, do it right.

  2. I bet 2012’s E3 will be a major bomb (in the good sense). I’m excited for that. Since they had a year to listen to developer feedback and mess around on the WIi U to make it even better and even decide launch titles. So yeah, next year’s E3 for Nintendo should definitely be one of the best in recent years, which is saying something since I loved the last 2.

  3. This has to be the most silent launch ever. I mean they’re planning on launching this between July and the December of 2012, yet we really haven’t heard much about this system yet… I don’t know whether to be worried or excited.

    1. be excited, nintendo will likely win the next e3. reggie says theyve only shown 10% of the consoles potential and they still need to reveal the awesome online, even more 3rd party titles plus 1st party titles. gonne be an amazing E3 :D

    1. How can Uncharted be compared to Resident Evil: RE graphics?

A comparason to diffrent Resident evil game on diffrent consoles would make more sence.

    1. Pretty sure they were rated last the past few years by almost all gaming websites. Granted it was like 7/10 with the others being 7.5 or 8 out of 10.

    2. i agree :D reveal of the online, reveal of MORE 3rd party titles as if there werent already soo many confirmed for wii u and reveal of 1st party titles :D there wont even be time for 3DS :P

      1. Not to mention the demos already will look even better. Im praying for a darksiders II(or ninja gaiden3) gameplay trailer though.

  5. I like how they say “start of the 2012 E3 Expo in June”. As if at their conference they’re gonna announce “And you can buy this from usual retailers starting….tomorrow”

    1. sega did that once, dont remember which console, but it backfired epicly!! and weakened segas reputation and was one reason that lead to the poor dreamcast sales, shame cos the dreamcast was a beast :(

  6. New zelda demo footage :D. Bet the system is still going to look different at e3 2012 even if it looks the same @ CES. The zelda demo will probably look better too(full 1080p) and improvements to the water in the bird demo. Hell, the playable builds of the demos looked better than the trailer Nintendo showed, I doubt they aren’t improved upon. Im pretty excited again!

  7. Other people said it before but i want to reiterate. Nintendo’s E3 Press Conference will blow people’s minds away. The reason i say this is no one knows what they have up their sleeves and a lot of people are underestimating them, but if they say they’ve learned from the 3DS launch, they must be packing the big guns

  8. NOOOOOO!!!!!!!!

I WANTED TO SEE PIKMIN 3!!!!!!!!!

And also some of the upcoming games shown on Wii U like Ninja gaiden.

  9. Well, I kind of expected this. They are only doing this to remind people about the Wii U and build some hype going into E3.

  10. Haven’t they said before that more information will be available next year. So even though they say there’ll be nothing new at CES, they may be forthcoming with info if asked.
And personally, I think they need to release an estimated date soon if they want to support third parties. Like with so many of the third party Wii U titles being released on other systems first, this will lead to a lack of sales of those games on Wii U which may put those developers off developing more for Wii U.
While if we knew there was only a month wait between the time a big title comes out and it’s Wii U release, we may be more willing to wait.

    1. I kind of disagree because only a handful are multiplats that are being released on ps3/360 first. People obviously know that Wii U is the superior version and with a vague idea of the release window, the people who want to wait (i imagine quite a few but not an overwhelming amount) will get it on Wii U release day. And when Wii U is released we are going to see a lot more higher sales with multiplats, and since it’s easier to develop for than ps3 and on par with the 360 it’s a bonus for developers

  11. I hope they finally show off what the official graphics of the Wii U will be like it and the official Wii U versions of games coming out on it. I heard that the graphics of Batman: Arkham City, Battlefield 3, etc. are better on Wii U than other systems currently out. It’s not all about the graphics for me. I’m just curious is all.

  12. going to hyper japan in the uk in february, last year they had skyward sword, hoping wii u will be there next year, would be AMAZING so fingers crossed
