Sixteen Of Top Twenty Games During Christmas In Japan Were Either On Wii Or Nintendo 3DS

A mighty impressive sixteen out of the top twenty games in the Japanese all-formats chart were on either Wii, Nintendo 3DS or Nintendo DS. The fantastic Mario Kart 7 took the number one spot but was following fairly closely by Super Mario 3D Land and Monster Hunter Tri G. Interestingly enough there wasn’t one PlayStation Vita game in the Japanese top twenty.

        1. Sega are masters of publishing games but Sony hardly own anything.

Sony relies on game develupers to have games on their console.

          Sony has few 1st party.

          Sega > Microsocks > Sony

        2. YES! I wonder if SEGA has enough money and resources and learn so thing from Nintendo so that they can pack up the Third Party stuff and go back First Party. Seriously it would be better to only own to Console Nintendo and Sega. Stupid Sony grr they get on my nerve. I’m glad that Jack Tretton kept his mouth SHUT for months now.

      1. There is room for both consoles in the market, in fact it’s better to have competition so no one gets lazy. Stop the fanboy bitching.

    1. stfu fag nintendo fucking sucks i made vita blog because 3ds a sinking ship smh. why are u playing a system that has games 4 7 and up like animal crossing smh diaper sniffer growp up. ughh i swear the internets has the most creepiest weirdo nutjobs -_-

  1. As usual, Nintendo doesn’t have to worry about Japanese opinions. They will ALWAYS gobble up what Nintendo brings to the table.

Now, if only that would transfer to the US as well.

    1. On another note, I’m happy to see Kirby as the 6th game on the list. Such an underrated game.

The japanese appreciate Kirby. He’d never make the Top 10 in the US.

    2. As if that will ever happen. The US are full of idiot fanboys who thinks FPS are the future of gaming while video games with a TRUE ART AND STORY gets overlooked by Call of Duty -smfh- I will pray for the video game industry in America

      1. True

COD was the fastest selling game in history in the US.

        You know

        FPS’s = USA

        Dancing = UK

        RPG’s = Japan

Zumba fitness was number 1 in the UK for 18 Weeks in a row.

        1. I’m not going to bash the FPS games because I’ve never played them and everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

However, it does concern me that M-rated games where you just shoot things seem to be becoming the thing now in the USA.

      2. I’ll have to agree with the CoD comment, the game kind of sucks. But there are good FPS games out there like Metroid Prime, Bioshock, and Half-Life 2.

        1. You made the point.

For a fact Metroid Prime was the most critically aclaimed FPS of all time and as well as Golden Eye 64 which i think was slightly higher.

BOTH of which were made by Nintendo companys.

Golden Eye = Rare (Owned by nintendo until 2002)

Metroid Prime = Retro Studios (Owned by nintendo today)

  2. I am as much a Nintendo fan as the next person, but..

The last thing we want is a monopoly:

Look at Coles and Woolworth, they super-dooper over charge on most things and control the direct inflow of most products because they can. Monopolies only end with the consumer being shafted. We need the aldies and Franklin to nip away at the bigger guys to keep the market fair and even. Besides, competition pushes the best out of people, we wouldn’t have Skyward Sword if Nintendo didn’t want to say “This is how great out motion control is, isn’t it awesome?” [and yes I know nity doesn’t directly compete, but they sorta do XD]

  3. Ouch. You could argue that Vita games are also available through the PSN, but even PSP game sales didn’t benefit of that. At this rate, the Vita will have a price cut before the western release.

On a different topic, Monster Hunter 3G is quickly approaching the 1 million mark, and holy crap, look at those legs for Kirby! That is amazing.

  4. Congratulations Nintendo for an amazing week in Japan! I hope the sales numbers for the U.S. are out soon, I’d love to know how the 3DS and the Mario games did.

  5. Wonderful news. I guess all that is left for me to do now is to suck my own dick while listening to the Skyward Sword CD in complete loneliness.

Wake me up on new years eve’ *yawn*, I wanna see the year turn on my 3DS, k thx. *Goes to sleep*

  6. The console was first conceived in 2008,[14] after Nintendo recognized several limitations and challenges with the Wii, such as the general public perception that the system catered primarily for a “casual” audience.[15] With Wii U, Nintendo explicitly wishes to lure “core” gamers back.[16] Game designer Shigeru Miyamoto admitted that the lack of HD and limited network infrastructure for the Wii also contributed to the system being regarded in a separate class to its competitors’ systems, the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.[17] It was decided that a new console would have to be made to accommodate significant structural changes.
Within the company, there was much debate over the idea for the new console, and the project was scrapped and restarted several times.[18] The concept of a touchscreen embedded within the controller was originally inspired by the blue light on the Wii that illuminates to indicate new messages.[19] Miyamoto and his team wanted to include a small screen to provide game feedback and status messages to players (in similar vein to the VMU for Sega’s Dreamcast). Much later in development, this was expanded to a full screen that could display the game being played in its entirety, a concept which was suggested but not financially viable earlier in the project.[14]

  7. We all knew this was gonna happen. The holiday season of 2011 goes to……………….NINTENDO!!! Now put that money towards the Wii U.
