Sega’s Digital Brand Manager Ken Balough has confirmed on the Sega forums that Sonic 4: Episode 2 won’t be coming to the Wii. The original Sonic 4: Episode 1 was available on Wii but the latest episode will be coming to Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and smartphones only.
The reason Episode I was on the Wii was because we wanted to bring the Sonic 4 saga to the widest possible audience. Episode II unfortunately will not be coming to the Wii – for reasons most people have probably guessed, but that doesn’t mean the SEGA isn’t supporting Nintendo platforms, we have a very strong partnership and will continue to do so.

Yeah, but that rule doesn’t apply to the 3DS. Sure, it takes a little extra effort to add 3D if they wanted to, but the game would at least be on a gaming handheld instead of smartphones.

Nintendo has a 40mb limit for WiiWare (which is also why Super Meat Boy, among other games, never came to the WiiWare). But this rule was lifted for the 3DS and Wii U.

Well there are probably 2 reasons of why the game isnt coming to Wii:
1) the limited space Wiiware has which makes it understandable
2) they are probably going to launch it on Wii U which makes it even more understandable

Well it might not be coming out for the Wii, but it may come out for Wii U. That would seem the most logical reasoning behind it all to me.
Tbh the Wii is becoming a bit old, now and there isn’t much point in developing anymore for it (not to say people shouldn’t stop developing of course).
All the developers including Sega themselves will be making games and potentially launch titles for Wii U already. Following that Sonic 4 Episode 2.
I used to like Sega, then I took a Sonic and the Dark Knight to the Wii.

Heck, why not just publish the game on disc? 2D games (especially platformers) do not need to be download only, and a plain old Sonic the Hedgehog 4 (with all ‘chapters’ in one game) would sell a ton.
